PORTFOLIO

This is a redesign of the brand kit for Oves Restaurant in Ocean City, New Jersey. It is a family-owned breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot on the boardwalk right near the beach. The clientele of the restaurant is typically families on vacation, with young kids who need a place to eat, whether it’s a big breakfast to start their day or an easy lunch one can conveniently get without straying too far from the beach. My role for this project was to create a complete redesign of the brand. I wanted to give it a more updated aesthetic that is not only cohesive, but is also authentic to the experience of dining at the restaurant. In doing so, I updated the wordmark, color palette, typography pairings, and created new menus to be used in the restauraunt.

The brand’s new wordmark has an updated aesthetic that is attention-grabbing and visually enticing. It appeals to the value of family and kid-friendliness of the restaurant, which was lacking in the old design.
The pictorial element of the wordmark is a glazed donut forming the “O” of the restaraunt’s name. This speaks to the restauraunt’s apple-cider donuts, which they are famous for. Customers who have dined at Ove’s before are familair with the donuts and will easily recognize the logo.
The colors of the wordmark are reminiscent of the old branding to maintain familarity in brand association, yet changed slightly to appear moe vibrant and cohesive when used together. The yellow evokes the warmth of sunshine on the beach, while the blue coorealtes with a cloudless sky and shimmering ocean.
The updated menu showcases the new branding and is laid out in a more readable and aesthetically pleasing way, which ensures it is easy for families with children to comprehend.
I created and designed all branding elements for my future bakery, Late Night at Tiff’s. This includes a primary color palette, secondary color palette, typography pairings, wordmark, logo, and a logotype with nine possible variations in regards to colors and illustration placement. The final product is a complete branding and design book that includes a comprehensive brand-kit, floor plans for the bakery space, menu designs, and digital mock-ups for various bakery items and merchandise. The online version of the brand book is available to be viewed on Issuu .
I created three styles of my logomark, with variations in the placement of the pictorial logo. Additionally, each logo is able to be used with three different colors on the outlining of “Tiff’s”. The set of teal logos is for primary use, while the sets of pruple and blue logos are to be used for variation and style options.
There are two color palettes for my brand, a primary palette consisting of purple, blue, teal, and cream, and a secondary palette consisting of a dark gray and orange. The primary palette is used in most typography, decor, and branding. The seconday pallete is available for accents and creating additional contrast.
I embedded inclusive design in my project in both the design choices of the branding as well as the layout of the physical floor plans. Ensuring my logomarks were visible in grayscale was one part of this, as the design needed to be high-contrast for those with visual impairments.
I created a visualization of the song “Maroon” by Taylor Swift through voice-driven typography. The format of the project is a fourteen page pamphlet, including a cover and back cover, with original illustrations.
My goal for this project was to create an aesthetically pleasing visual layout of the song that matches the experience one has when listening to the song. The song evokes strong imagery and uses colors throughout the lyrics. I aimed to reference this throughout the design with a visualization that embodies the actual sound and listening experience, as there are changes in singing pace, different intonations, and parts of overlapped singing.
The final product of this project is a complete fourteen page pamphlet that includes the entirety of the song’s lyrics, in an intentional composition of original graphics, colors, fonts, and spacing. Throughout the project there is an emphasis on the typography, as the design utilizes different typefaces, effects, and arrangement to guide the viewer.
Throughout the project, the visual elements and design choices reflect not only the song’s sound, but the message behind the song, and the lyrics being sung. The colors of the backgrounds and the gradients used express the meaning of the song about a romantic relationship that has turned from happy to sad, and only exists in haunting memories.
The pamphlet offers a visual accompaniment to the song that represents the listening experiment through voice-driven typography and design.

I created a poster of vector illustrations, all correlating to the albums/eras of Taylor Swift’s discography. The final product is a poster design with the layout and colors matching the style of the official tour poster for The Eras Tour.
The inspiration for this poster came from a personal project of mine, where I painted a pair of jeans with designs that related to different Taylor Swift albums. After completing that project, I set out to create a digital poster version of these designs, that I could further elaborate on to represent all of Swift’s music and eras.

The final product of this project is a complete poster that resembles the official Taylor Swift Eras Tour poster, but uses vector illustrations to represent each album. The poster includes the album names in fonts reminiscent of the album cover and aesthetic as well as song lyrics from each album that I feel best embody the era. Colors are pulled from the associated palettes of each album and the illustrations are of imagery either included in songs or that coorelate to each era. Each component of the poster works together to form a cohesive composition in a grid layout. ,The design works as a way to engage fans of the artist and provide a thorough visual representation of the journey of Taylor Swift’s discography.

Fans of Taylor Swift know how much she loves leaving easter eggs, or hints, to what she’s doing next in her music, outfits, and social media posts. In this project, I used my own easter eggs that dedicated fans who look closer can pick up on. One example is the list of all the songs on Taylor Swift’s albums, both her original albums and the rerecordings. The song titles are set at half opacity in the background of the “Midnights” section to fade into the background, appearing barely visible at a quick glance. Another easter egg is that the opacity of every album title is 13%, which is the number Taylor Swift uses in lots of her clues, as her birthday is the thirteenth of December.
