Indian Creek School is proud to announce that our Summer Camp Program is back - and better than ever!

From June 21-July 29, ICS will offer a wide variety of fun and engaging activities for students ages 3.5 to rising seniors! This year’s programs include traditional day camps, centered around themes from STEM to music, art to outdoor adventures, as well as Performing Arts camps, Sports camps, and Indian Creek’s hallmark BLinc (hybrid and virtual) academic course offerings.

New for 2022: Campers will enjoy a 15-foot inflatable water slide for “Water Day Wednesdays” during our traditional camps. Another great feature of this summer’s camp program will be daily lunches, provided

by SAGE Dining, included in camp tuition.

T he Indian Creek School Summer Team Indian Creek Summer Camps utilize the School’s building including a state-of-the-art theater, dance studio, rehearsal rooms, gymnasium, classrooms, fitness center, and cafeteria, as well as outdoor spaces like two playgrounds, campus lawns, and woods. Campers will also enjoy using the Eagles Athletics Complex, featuring two turf fields, six tennis courts, a baseball field, and the 27,000 sq. ft. Eagle Dome.

Outdoor Adventure Camp (PK & K)

Campers will experience a different adventure each day as we explore the great wide world of nature-based learning!

Learn how to scout and plan a campsite, build a shelter, identify poisonous plants, cook outdoors, and more. Join us for a week of exploring, creating and connecting to nature in the 114-acre woods on Indian Creek’s campus. Please note that all campers must be 3.5 by June 1.

Minecraft Fables (Grades 1-3)

Mountain Bike Adventures (Grades 2-6)

This course combines the digital allure of Minecraft with the timeless lessons of classic tales. Students will use modern media tools to recreate famous fables in the open-world nature of Minecraft and turn their Minecraft story into a personalized e-book. Join us as we mix the traditional play of summer camp with an immersive experience in a variety of math, science, and art concepts. Required equipment: a device capable of running the Minecraft Education Edition and Book Creator programs. + optional BLinc Add-On Week June 27-July 1

Favorite Field Day Games (Grades 1-3)

Do you enjoy outdoor gales like potato sack races, car wash relay, tug-a-war, pool noodle baseball or maybe a 4-legged race? If so, then come join our Field Day camp! During this camp, all our favorite field day games, as well as a few fun sport games will be played. Other activities such as Jenga, Legos, story-time, drawing, and board games will be incorporated so that children have time to relax between field games.

This camp is designed for proficient bike riders who are relatively new to unpaved surfaces and eager to gain mountain biking skills while exploring local trails. Campers will arrive at ICS each day and spend mornings learning and practicing new skills with lots of personalized instruction and games to reinforce practices. Then, campers will be transported to nearby mountain bike trail systems most afternoons for longer trail rides to practice new skills and e xplore the woods. Open to campers ages 8-12, who are comfortable riding in groups/on paths and trails for at least 1-2 hours.

Required equipment: Campers MUST have a mountain bike in good working condition with knobby tires, hand brakes and gears. Helmet, hydration pack, water, lunch, sunglasses, cycling gloves, and insect repellent required.

Games Galore (Grades 4 & 5)

Who’s ready to play some games! Campers will learn and play a variety of both indoor and outdoor games, like Slamwich, Cockroach Poker, Sequence, Cornhole, and Kubb. We will also hold a few epic Nerf battles. ICS will provide a full supply of blasters and foam darts, as well as goggles to ensure safety. Campers will hone both strategy and teamwork skills with our indoor games and have a fun source of exercise with our outdoor games!

Fun on the Run (Grades 6-8)

This one-week camp will give Middle Schoolers the opportunity to do what they love best: have fun! Campers will depart campus to participate in various activities each day in our area such as Six Flags, Sandy Point, a skating rink, and SkyZone. The week’s final itinerary and special instructions will be emailed the week before camp begins.

Indian Creek’s Traditional Day Camps offer a variety of themed adventures filled with hands-on activities for children entering Pre-K through grade 8.

These immersive camps will keeps kids moving and provide exciting challenges and memorable experiences.

June 27 - July 1 Art & Our Imagination (PK & K)

Take advantage of this whimsical week of play-based fun, infused with early math concepts and exciting children’s literature from some of our favorite authors and artists: Picasso, Matisse, Cassatt, Carroll and Calder. We will jump into famous works of art and have a great time learning and playing in these creative environments. From building sandcastles and splashing in little pools on the ICS beach to a tea party with the mad hatter, the friends will be sure to enjoy a week to remember.

A Week at Hogwarts (Grades 1-3)

Grab your brooms as we take to the skies and spend a week in the Wizarding world. From Quidditch and Gobstones, to stained glass and ghost stories, campers will take part in a wide array of activities that focus on the first three books of J.K. Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter series. With a wide array of crafts, games, and trivia, campers will fill every day with new artwork and stories of their days at Hogwarts Castle.

Activities will include designing our own snitches, playing modified Quidditch, making wands, creating tissue paper-stained glass, learning to play Gobstones, inventing Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, and much more!

Comic Book Camp (Grades 4 & 5)

Create your own comic books! Campers will learn about favorite comic characters from Superman to Snoopy and Garfield to Captain Underpants. Campers will become cartoonists, developing their own storyboards and characters and creating a comic book from start to finish! Anatomy, facial expressions, and different cartooning techniques will be covered.

2022 Olympic Challenge (Grades 6-8)

Let’s get ready for the Paris summer Olympics in 2024!

Campers will enjoy the perfect combination of competitive and cooperative games that reinforce teamwork and good sportsmanship. We will go for the gold!

Campers at our Traditional Camps will enjoy weekly “Water Wednesdays,” on our 15-foot inflatable water slide!

July 5-8 (4-day Camps) A Adventures in Cooking: A Romp through the Culinary Arts (PK & K)

Join us for a week of culinary arts. We will meet a young Julia Child through a book that will inspire the chef in all of us.

Campers will make summertime favorites including snow cones and lemonade, and bake tasty treats in a solar oven. There will be home baking projects as we learn to mix and measure and follow a recipe. We also will design a logo for our cooking camp aprons. Find out what it takes to become a chef in this wild week of adventures in cooking!

Explore the Ancients (Grades 1-3)

American Summer (Grades 4 & 5)

.

From Hercules to Caesar, the rich history and mythology of Ancient Greece and Rome will fascinate campers as they travel back in time. From trying Ancient Olympic sports, to creating intricate floor mosaics and learning how to wear a toga, campers will immerse themselves in two of the most prolific empires in history, while returning to the modern world at the end of the day. Campers will be involved in a wide variety of activities so make sure they are dressed for time inside and outside.

We will continue to celebrate Independence Day all week long!

Campers will make their own American flags, “fireworks,” and of course Smores! Join us for a week full of engaging activities and games including some fun outdoor water activities.

Old School Recess (Grades 6-8)

This is the perfect camp for Middle Schoolers who are always on the move! Come experience the magic of team sports. Campers will spend time indoors and out, learning to work together as a team and creating a strategy for success. Campers will work on increasing their fitness as they are exposed to a variety of classic games such as kickball, matball, capture the flag, dodgeball, hungry hippos, and more. Campers will learn rules of play and put their strategies into action all while having a ton of fun.

Ooey Gooey Science (PK & K)

Let’s get our hands dirty and explore the world of science as we transform our classrooms into our own camp labs. Our youngest scientists will get out their test tubes, put on their safety goggles and experiment! Learn the best way to melt ice, make magic colored milk, create slime, and even make ice cream in a bag!

Kitchen Science (Grades 1-3)

Campers should roll up their sleeves to prepare for an incredible, edible week of science and culinary fun. A different field of science will be discussed each day and corresponding experiments will be sure to inspire giggles and grins.

Mission Impossible (Grades 4 & 5)

Campers will be given a mission (if they choose to accept it!)

This lofty task will involve reading clues, planning their next moves, and plotting their escape. This week will be filled with intellectual obstacles and physical challenges that will be sure to keep campers engaged and moving.

Choose Your Adventure (Grades 6-8)

Campers will be part of a Dungeons & Dragons inspired camp, where campers will use elements of D&D-style games to “adventure;” be it by solving puzzles and riddles, following maps, or discovering or “battling” creatures or monsters.

Inspiration for this camp loosely stems from our favorite stories, including Dungeons and Dragons, Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Harry Potter.

Junior Engineers (PK & K)

Young children love to explore the world around them—and STEM activities are a great way to help them learn! By becoming a ‘Junior Engineer’ our youngest campers will have the opportunity to build, take apart, remake, and explore new projects each day. Join us as we mix the traditional play of summer camp with an immersive experience in a variety of math, science, and art concepts. + optional BLinc Add on week of July 25-29

Mythical Quest (Grades 1-3)

Step into a world of wonder and fantasy as our campers set out on a quest into the fantastical! We will investigate classic forms of story telling from across the world as we set out to create our own books of fairy tales and adventure. Throughout the week, campers will work together to create their own book of stories alongside activities that will bring their characters and ideas to life!

Los Pasaportes (Grades 4 & 5)

Explore the Latin culture without leaving the ICS campus! Enjoy indoor and outdoor cultural celebrations, art projects, science experiments, geography, Latin music, and interactive games. This is not a sit-down Spanish class, but rather fun-filled days and activities to boost your child’s language skills and appreciation for the culture. Together we will fill our passport as we travel and explore traditions of Spanish-speaking countries.

Great ICS Bake-Off (Grades 6-8)

Put on your chef’s hats! Let’s head to the kitchen for some cooking and baking. Campers will have the opportunity to improve their skills in the kitchen ,including learning how to plan and follow a recipe, measure ingredients, shop for local produce, and more.

We will end the week with various challenges as seen in the “Great British Bake Off.” No prior experience needed. “On your marks... get set... bake!”

We are pleased to announce that daily lunch service, provided by the chefs of SAGE dining services, will be included with tuition for all full-day campers!

July 25-29 Around the World (PK & K)

Does your child love to travel and explore? If so, pack their bags and send them on a week-long adventure! Join us on an amazing journey as we travel the world exploring the sights, sounds, flavors, and cultures of five different countries. This will be a trip your child will not want to miss!

Time Travelers (Grades 1-3)

.

Let’s travel back in time, into the future, and everywhere in between. Each day, campers will get to experience a different time period, learning about history in the process. They will even get to make their own predictions about the future!

Daily activities, games and research will educate and keep explorers moving and still be back in time for dinner!

Art from Around the World (Grades 4-6)

.

Campers will take a trip around the world as we learn about different kinds of traditional art from each continent. They will bring home new masterpieces every day and maybe even discover a new hobby. From European weaving to Asian printmaking and South America Mosaics, campers will learn some of the history behind these art forms and see examples of each before creating their own. Campers should be prepared to get messy as we will be using many different supplies including paint and glue.

Maryland Outdoor Experience (Grades 7-9)

Get excited about spending time in the great outdoors! This is your chance to see what makes our state such a great place to live by hiking, paddling and floating around Maryland with your friends, culminating with a morning tubing trip down the Potomac River. You’ll experience everything you might want to do outdoors in a single week with Indian Creek as your guide.

Spend your summer at the Creek!

Indian Creek’s prestigious Counselor in Training (CIT) Program operates throughout the full summer program and offers flexibility to campers to commit for as few as one week or as many as all six weeks. The camper is expected to commit to the full week(s) they have chosen.

Counselors in Training (CIT) will begin with situational training and role-playing focused on review and enforcement of rules and guidelines. As a CIT progresses in each session, there will be an observation log/journal kept by both the instructor and the counselor-in-training to document different experiences and situations. There will also be an evaluation process completed by both the instructor and the different camp session leaders.

CITS will be able to test their strengths and hone their skills in a variety of camp-themed sessions and with different ages of campers. Daily group discussions and check-ins will monitor a CIT’s progress and experience. There will be daily sessions with the instructor as well as daily time with campers.

Basic topics and focus areas include safety awareness, interpersonal skills, dealing with difficult campers, rules and procedures, troubleshooting, taking initiative, general first aid, and transitioning from camper to counselor. All campers will receive a pass or fail grade at the end of their session indicating whether they may or may not advance in the program.

Campers who receive a passing grade will get preferential consideration for hiring as a Junior Counselor position once they are of age, as well as 10 service hours per week.

Please note the week of June 20 and July 4 are 4-day weeks.

Lunches are included in camp tuition.

Performing Arts Rising Stars June 21 - July 1: 2 week camp (Grades 1-9)

Our Rising Stars camp is proud to present Willy Wonka KIDS during this two-week acting opportunity for campers entering grades one through nine. Campers will have the opportunity to work on singing, dancing, and drama. Each day campers will work on theater skills and practice for a Broadway revue. Each age group will work on its own portion of the production and will be a part of the creative process.

Each camper will have at least one solo singing or speaking line and will be included in all full cast production numbers.

The final performance will be on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.

Broadway Bound July 11-29: 3 week camp (Grades 1-9)

This three-week theater experience of performing arts camp will present Disney’s Aladdin Jr. for the final performance of Summer 2022. Campers will have the opportunity to work on singing, dancing, and drama. Each day campers will work on theater skills and practice for a Broadway style musical. Each age group will work on its own portion of the production and will be a part of the creative process. Campers will be cast in either a named role or as part of the chorus/ensemble.

The final performance will be on Thursday, July 28 at 7:00 p.m.

Sports Girls Basketball (Grades 4-9) June 27 - July 1

Indian Creek Varsity Girls Basketball Coach Casey Corkin will guide campers as they focus on mastering basketball fundamentals.

This camp will teach advanced skills, while creating a fun and competitive environment for the girls to grow as players. We will emphasize the Indian Creek Girls Basketball Pillars “CREEK” (Community, Respect, Empathy, Excellence, and Key) to each camper and teach them much more than basketball skills. Our goal is for girls to gain more confidence in themselves both on and off of the basketball court.

Boys Basketball (Grades 1-9) .

2 Sessions: July 5-8 (*4-day camp) & July 25-29

Indian Creek Summer Basketball Camp is designed for boys looking to develop and strengthen their individual and team skills.

Each day campers will develop/strengthen their fundamentals of basketball by participating in team/individual skill sessions, receiving instructions from knowledgeable coaches, lectures from speakers and competitive individual/team games. The Coaches’ goal is to provide these services but also provide each camper with an enjoyable experience.

Learn to Ride (Pre-K4 - Grade 3) July 11-15: 1/2 day camp, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Say goodbye to training wheels! Participants in PedalPower Kids’ top-rated Learn to Ride programs will learn to ride safely and confidently over the course of the camp week. Participants master balance and gliding first, then easily transition to riding independently, starting/stopping, speed control, turning, steering, riding in groups and around obstacles and hazards. Even the most reluctant riders will be beaming by week’s end, encouraged by our expert instructors and caring staff, specialized equipment and lots of practice through games and fun. Note that our camps are held outside, heat, rain or shine, so please be prepared for summer in Maryland! Please note that lunch is not included.

Lacrosse (Grades 1-8) .

July 11-15 .

The Indian Creek Lacrosse Camp is back as a staple in the world of Annapolis area youth lacrosse! This camp will offer top-tier instruction to beginner and intermediate players ranging from grades 1-8. Each day will begin with fundamental drills in the morning designed to lead into fun, developmental games in the afternoon. The goal of the camp is to develop each player’s skills and lacrosse IQ, while focusing on the values of sportsmanship, comradery, and fostering a love for the game.

Tennis (Grades 1-8) July 18-22

The camp includes fun activities, foundational instruction, singles /doubles match play, and competition style games. Campers will learn the basic rules and etiquette of the sport while participating in teamwork and healthy competition. We look forward to seeing you on the court!

BLinc

Academic Offerings Studio Art: Ceramics (Grades 6-8)

June 27 - July 8 2-week course with 4 in-person, ½-day studio hours Welcome to our Studio Art class, sculpting edition, where students are introduced to the fundamentals of working with clay. This summer course will allow students to explore the history, significance, and techniques behind sculpting as well as apply their newly gained knowledge during our supervised art studio hours.

What is a BLinc???

Blended Learning @ Indian Creek (BLinc) courses give students the opportunity for enrichment study in fields of interest through courses offered in face-to-face meetings with the instructor and online formats. BLinc classes are innovative, engaging, and challenging. BLinc promotes student engagement and fosters collaborative learning in an online atmosphere, preparing students for global citizenship in the 21st century.

Camp & BLinc Combos: Minecraft Fables (Grades 1-3)

Extension week for those enrolled in the June 21-24 camp July 25-29 (virtual) If you are looking to extend the fun of our Minecraft Fables camp with an option that allows you to set when and where the adventures continue, then consider our BLinc extension week.

Here, you and your family will have access to new activities and projects through the user-friendly program, SeeSaw. Each day, new activities will open with options that offer 1-3 hours of exploration and discovery around the Minecraft theme. Additionally, students will have two, 30-minute instructor guided ZOOM meetings. This will allow them the opportunity to share their projects, hang-out with their friends, or just ask the instructor if he has ever seen an axolotl in a cave biome.

Junior Engineers (Pre-K & K)

BLinc extension week available to both the preceding week’s camp participants and those looking for a virtual enrichment opportunity: July 25-29 (virtual) If you are looking to extend the fun of our Junior Engineers camp, or would prefer an option that allows you to set when and where the adventures occur, then consider our BLinc extension week. Here, you and your family will have access to new activities and projects through the user-friendly program, SeeSaw. Each day new activities will open with options that offer 1- 3 hours of exploration and discovery around our Junior Engineering theme. Additionally, our camp week instructor will coordinate a 30-minute ZOOM meeting where the kids can share their projects and what they have been building.

By utilizing a self-paced instructional model, we can maximize the time our budding artists spend sculpting during the in-person studio sessions. Twice each week, students will meet on campus at our ICS art studio to build, stain, and fire their creations. Our artists will receive guided instruction throughout the entire process, from designing their idea to finalizing their hand-made product, in both the online and in-person portions of the course. Studio Art, sculpting edition is designed to provide a well-rounded introduction to sculpting and everyone will create at least one finished, personalized piece of art to take home.

Writing Your College Admission Essay (Grades 11 & 12) July 5-29, 4-week virtual course Writing about yourself can be challenging, especially when it is the only opportunity for an admissions officer to get to know the real you. This course helps students compose their college admission essay and provides them with a springboard to get ahead of the very busy (and sometimes stressful) college application process. Each week you will cultivate the tools necessary to develop and finish an essay ready to wow any college.

Participants will begin the course with an online, early-evening meeting held on Tuesday, July 5. During week three of the course, each student will schedule a skype-based one-on-one review of their essay with the course’s instructor and a member of the ICS Upper School Humanities faculty.

Forensic Investigation (Grades 7-9)

July 18-29 2-week course with 4 in-person, ½-day studio sessions .

Are you fascinated by whodunits? If so, our Forensic Investigations BLinc could put you on the path to solving all kinds of mysteries.

This BLinc summer course will allow individuals to explore the history, significance, and techniques at the core of forensic science as well as spending time together analyzing our results in the ‘forensics lab’.

Students will cover topics from fingerprinting to gel electrophoresis, online. Each day, new information, skills checks, and interactive activities will be released for students to explore.

30-minute virtual meetings will be on Monday evenings to introduce the concepts. On Wednesdays and Thursdays we will meet in-person on campus at the ICS forensic lab to experiment, test, and solve crimes! So come and join us as we delve into this fascinating sector of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

Auxiliary Services Before and After Camp Care Morning hours: 7:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Cost: $45/week ($36 for the week of June 20 and July 4) Drop-in care: $12/day Afternoon hours: 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Cost: $90/week ($72 for the week of June 20 and July 4) Snack included Drop-in: $20/day If not pre-registered, campers who are brought to camp 15 minutes early or left 15 minutes after camp will be entered into the Extended Care program and parents will be billed at the drop-in rates listed above. The program ends promptly at 6:00 p.m.. Families must pre-register and pre-pay for the Before & After Care plans.

Late Pick Up Fees: $5 for every minute starting at 6:05 p.m.

Daily Lunch Service New for 2022: Daily lunch service is included with tuition for all full-day camps!

This year we are happy to share that the chefs of SAGE dining (Indian Creek School’s on-campus dining service) will provide daily lunches with plenty of delicious and healthy options for all full-day campers.

Health & Safety Indian Creek School prioritizes the health and safety of all students, campers, and employees.

The ICS Summer Camp Program will continue to follow Indian Creek School health protocols throughout the Summer 2022 season. These guidelines are formed in partnership with the School’s medical advisory board in alignment with CDC and state recommendations. Health guidelines continue to evolve based on school and local metrics. Health protocols and expectations will be sent to families prior to the start of each week of camp. Please contact our Summer team at summer@indiancreekschool.org for current protocol details.

Parents must complete all online health forms before camp begins. Parents of campers who need to have medication (prescription or over the counter) administered at camp should submit their forms through the registration process. Campers will only be authorized to self-administer medication if the camper’s guardian(s) have signed their permission on the medication administration form and provided the signature from the
