What an incredible year we've had at Indian Creek School! The 2021 22 school year was momentous, as the School's strategic plan came to fruition ICS opened for the first time in School history with all PK 12 students together on one campus Our One Creek vision was achieved, thanks to the dedication of the entire ICS community Following this culmination, we set our sights forward and ICS switched to "growth mode" As we embark on our 50th anniversary, ICS has added additional teachers, enrolled 131 new students, implemented exciting new curricular initiatives, and embraced an updated Vision statement
We will celebrate this milestone next fall at CREEKfest. Throughout this year we will prepare for that celebration by focusing on the School’s updated Vision Statement and planning for programming and facilities additions aligned with this vision. Our Board of Trustees led the process of creating a new vision that blends the best of the what ICS has been, with the confidence of what we know the School can be: Indian Creek is THE premiere independent school in the Annapolis area, where kindness is currency, well being is priority, and excellence in education is relentlessly pursued.
Kindness is currency. The statement could have said “We believe in kindness,” or “Kindness is important.” “Kindness is currency” is a strong statement Currency, by definition, is a system of exchange in common use within a specific environment over time Kindness at ICS means that we recognize that caring relationships are the foundation for growth, connection, responsibility, moral development, belonging, and learning
Well being is priority (Not “a” priority THE priority) Well being at ICS means that as a community, we strive to support every individual physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually This is a big task and an exciting one While this has always been foundational to the Indian Creek School experience, we are deepening our commitment to teaching students that success is much more than academic achievement Over the years, our human development curriculum, manageable homework guidelines, later start time for high schoolers, social emotional learning, investment in school counselors and college advisors all stand as proof of that well being commitment at ICS Strengthening that commitment and creating new wellness programs will be part of the most important work we do together
Excellence in Education is relentlessly pursued. At Indian Creek, educational excellence means that each student is encouraged and supported to achieve to their highest potential in all parts of their educational experience. We could take it a step further and just say “Excellence is relentlessly pursued,” because the pursuit of excellence can be seen in every facet of our community every day: in the classrooms, by our athletes, our performing artists, our educators. But the vision specifies “Excellence in Education” because we are a community that values learning above all else. Our Upper School Integrated Studies
program, with its new AP Seminar/Capstone and Research sequence, Middle School Project Based Learning initiative, and Pre K outdoor curriculum are current examples of this pursuit. Our students are relentless in their quest to learn, our faculty are relentless in their pursuit of knowledge, and our school leadership sets the tone for everyone in this way.
THIS is Indian Creek and WE are Indian Creek Together, let’s appreciate our 50th year, let’s acknowledge who we are and how far we have come, and let's look deep inside ourselves to ask "How can I help to fulfill this Vision?"
Together we will create even greater things for our students and for our school

Sixty-two seniors submitted applications to 245 colleges and universities where they received 328 acceptances and matriculated to 51 different schools. The average number of applications per senior was nine. There were 11 Early Decision acceptances. The Class of 2022 is very proud of the eight collegiate athletes and five performing artists who are continuing their craft at the collegiate level.
On Saturday, June 4, the Class of 2022 processed on to the Eagles Athletics Complex. Dressed in their academic regalia, they joined family, friends, faculty, staff and members of the Board of Trustees for a spectacular morning that marked the fourteenth High School Graduation of Indian Creek School. Head of School Booth Kyle and English teacher Dr. Michael Pawluk commended the 62 graduates, as a class who spent half of their Upper School years contending with the pandemic, for their perseverance, grit, grace, and accomplishments during their years at ICS. Congratulations to the Class of 2022, a group known for their accomplishments in the classroom, on the field, on the stage and for their sense of community and camaraderie. We look forward to staying in touch and following your future successes.

Sean received a four year Army ROTC scholarship, which paid entirely for his undergraduate degree. He is currently an I.T. Manager for the U.S. Army stationed in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. When he’s not jumping out of planes, he’s securing communications throughout the world for the U.S. Army. Sean has the following advice for his fellow Eagles: “If you ' re at ICS, then you ' re pretty much set up for success to go to an undergraduate program of your choosing. Use every opportunity you have to make yourself competitive.”
A member of the ICS Board of Trustees and Chair of the Finance Committee, Christina is currently a Senior Manager at PepsiCo, leading a team that develops and executes the company ’ s Retail Sales strategy in the Baltimore/Washington Market. Her journey to this position began soon after she graduated from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. "Be comfortable with being uncomfortable. Take advantage of the environment ICS provides to try something new and push yourself; you might be surprised at the outcome." These are Christina's words of wisdom to share with current Eagles
During high school, Brandon started a non profit, Brandon’s Coalition for Success, which is a mentoring program to support young people who are struggling. He truly embodies our school’s Mission and we are so proud of him for making such a significant impact on our community and throughout the world.
September 2022 marks the start of Indian Creek's 50th school year. As we look back, there is so much to be grateful for, and as we continue the legacy of kindness, well being and academic excellence, we have so many goals yet to achieve. What an exciting time to be an Eagle!
We will be celebrating for the entire year with our culminating anniversary event in the Fall of 2023
