PROJECT BRIEF Mr. and Mrs. Hall wish to remodel their kitchen to expand the functionality and design of the space. To accomplish this task a design process has been developed with the intent of upgrading the already existing style of the kitchen and expanding the layout to create a better functioning space that will accommodate for all of Mr. and Mrs. Hall’s needs. By choosing materials that keep a modern/farmhouse style and bumping out the back kitchen wall we will be able to create a kitchen layout that is functional, aesthetically pleasing, and creates an inviting atmosphere for the residents and their guests.

DESIGN CONCEPT Client wanted a clean and elegant feeling within the kitchen. The kitchen contains a modern aesthetic with golden highlights and soft, white, and wooden tones. In contrast, the cabinets are coated with a royal navy blue to help ground the design.

PROJECT BRIEF Mr. and Mrs. O’Bryan are looking to redesign their house’s lighting systems and fixtures within their whole residents. The design intent is to include lighting fixtures that follow the preexisting décor of their home and offer a variety of lighting options. Light switches, electrical outlets and their respected code are selected to ensure a strategically planned space.

BALTIMORE PEDIATRIC CENTER IIAD DESIGN CHALLENGE I BALTIMORE, MD

PROJECT BRIEF The IIDA program has offered designers to design the interiors of a pediatric center. The design is located within an unnamed location located in Baltimore Maryland. The pediatric center is to treat children from newly born to teenagers and is to hold a clean and friendly appearance. Three main sections of the center are to be selected and fully flushed out including lighting, furniture, materials, and fixtures.

• Develop a safe and child-friendly environment.

DESIGN CONCEPT This center will accommodate infants, children, and teens. The interior will use a friendly, warm color scheme and interactives for the children. The space will contain enough toys or gizmos to interact with to alleviate stress.

Heavy furniture is selected to prevent any possible selfinflicted injuries and any disgruntled patient or guardian from throwing furniture out of rage. Long, soft, fun, curvy sofas and tables with chairs will be prominent in the waiting area. All materials will be easily cleanable and made from only commercial-grade fabrics and textiles.

Signage will be visible to all patients and designed to be interactive using long, colorful painted lines to help direct the patient.
