Her multimedia paintings have wowed visitors.

"I was interested in adding bits of three dimension to my paintings," says Jacque. "The combination of carving tools and wood canvases lead me to the idea of carving into the canvas. The subtractive strokes create definition and reflection. I think the overall look of this technique is reminiscent of a wood block."

"I think the best part of being the summer intern here at Central Library has been the people here," says Emerson. "From projects in the archives, to helping with community engagement, to getting to meet all of our wonderful patrons at events and from behind the desk, it’s been a great and versatile experience that I’ll make sure to put to good use."

After her internship, she will be moving to Iowa City to pursue her Masters in Library and Information Science. Join us in wishing Emerson good luck on her next adventure.
