Storytime break
Summer is busy at the library To give our staff time to rest and prepare for fall, we are pausing storytimes and offering reduced youth programming August 10-16
Labor Day Closure
All DMPLlocations will be closed onAugust 31 and September 1 for the Labor Day holiday.
The Summer Reading Challenges end on August 2.
Finish summer strong! Complete and turn in your entry forms to be entered in the final prize drawings for your age group.
Book club field trip to the Des MoinesArt Center
The Des MoinesArt Center hosted the July meeting of the Franklin evening book discussion group, Reading on the Margins, and it was an absolute delight. We began with a brief tour of the new Firelei Báez exhibit, which beautifully complemented our discussion of The CemeteryofUntoldStoriesby Julia Alvarez.
While our average attendance is usually 10-12 people, we were thrilled to welcome 16 attendees for this special edition of Reading on the Margins.Abig thank you to Mia Buch and the Des MoinesArt Center for hosting us. Everyone had a fantastic time!
Meet our Summer intern Robyn
Robyn joined the team at the FranklinAvenue Library on June 6, and she will be wrapping up her internship with us inAugust.
Her favorite part of working at the library has been working with the team and being able to be part of programs put on for the community
The Pigeon Visits the Library
