An Extension and Research Mecca In the Mountains

Stretching across nearly 400 acres of fertile farmland, there's an agricultural mecca in Mills River. The Mountain Horticultural Crops Research and Extension Center (MHCREC) is home to dozens of NC State Extension and research professionals who aid farmers throughout the region.

Innovative research and Extension efforts cover commodities from apples, ornamentals and tomatoes to soybeans, hemp and hops.

Located within a half-day's drive of half-a-dozen land-grant schools, the MHCREC is uniquely equipped to promote agricultural prosperity along the Blue Ridge and beyond.
