Welcome to TivoliVredenburg! In the heart of Utrecht, between the medieval city centre and the busiest train station of the Netherlands, lies a unique music venue with five concert halls for all musical genres, from classical to pop and from jazz to dance. Five architects lent their creative expertise to design the building and the auditoriums. TivoliVredenburg welcomes more than 800,000 music lovers every year. TivoliVredenburg is much more than just these five concert halls. It is also a setting for other cultural events, conferences and corporate occasions. Housing these five auditoriums under one roof makes TivoliVredenburg home to many different festivals, such as Janine Jansen’s International Chamber Music Festival, the Utrecht Early Music Festival, the Netherlands Film Festival, Le Guess Who? and Catch. International allure by Dutch architects The breathtaking building has five magnificent halls for concerts, parties and conferences, and the many spaces between these auditoriums can also be used for gatherings of all kinds. This makes TivoliVredenburg an ideal venue for concerts and festivals, with a maximum capacity of 7,500 visitors.
The Grand CafĂŠ is located on the ground floor and features canal-side seating. The 45 metres tall building has been constructed around the iconic symphony hall, which was designed by the architect Herman Hertzberger in the 1970s.
The four new halls have been literally hung around or above the old building. A different architect designed each hall, giving them all their own unique look and feel. The plazas between the auditoriums are one of the building’s most distinctive features, making TivoliVredenburg feel like a city within a city.
10:00 Concerts for children Kids get to meet the members of the orchestra and then enjoy a concert. TivoliVredenburg has an extensive education programme for primary and secondary schools. We also organize monthly family days with programming for families with children of all ages. Every year 10,000 schoolchildren get introduced to orchestral music at TivoliVredenburg.

12:00 Lunch hour concert in the Hertz auditorium The audience applauds for the musicians on stage during the lunch hour concert. The distance between the musicians and their audience has been kept as small as possible in all halls, and the sightlines are ideal throughout. 20:00 Symphony orchestra in the Great Hall The Great Hall is filled with music lovers. This unique, octagonal auditorium was designed by the architect Herman Hertzberger in the 1970s. While building the new halls of TivoliVredenburg, the auditorium’s world-famous acoustics and character were preserved so that future generations can continue to enjoy them.

22:00 Jam session in Cloud Nine Cloud Nine is located right at the very top of the building, spanning three floors, and has a fantastic view over Utrecht’s medieval city centre. This café area can also be used during the day. The concert hall is adjacent to the club, and underneath is a workshop and session room with space for about 40 people.

24:00 TivoliVredenburg by Night The night is still young at TivoliVredenburg. Once the concert-goers have left for the night – though a few always linger – the building comes to life with a new audience eager for a night of dancing. TivoliVredenburg has dance events throughout the year with music provided by world-renowned DJs.
Audience Development ‘Connect’ is an in-depth programme designed to form a bond with the public and to help people learn more about music. We develop innovative concert formats for young people and we organize many concerts throughout the year for primary and secondary schools. Our ‘Pieces of Tomorrow’ programme is aimed at getting young people acquainted with classical music. This is done in close collaboration with orchestras and with financial support from cultural funds and businesses.
