Dear Friends!
Jesus is comforting the disciples before his departure, promising a way to stay connected to him and the Father. True love for God is not just an emotion, but a commitment to live according to his teachings. Jesus promises, "We will come to him and make our home with him." This signifies a deep and abiding presence of God within those who love him. It's not a physical dwelling, but a spiritual connection. Jesus mentions the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who will be sent by the Father. The Holy Spirit is the helper and comforter, empowering us to live out our love for God. Life lessons: Living the Word: Our love for God translates into action. We show our love by following Jesus teachings and striving to live a Christ-like life. Openness to God's presence: God desires to dwell within us, but we must create space through prayer, reflection, and a life oriented towards him. The power of the Holy Spirit: We don't face this journey alone. The Holy Spirit strengthens us, guides us, and reminds us of God's love.

OFFICIAL PILGRIMAGE SITE
St. Augustine Church is an official pilgrimage site in the Diocese of Scranton for the Jubilee Year 2025!!!
To obtain a plenary indulgence you must visit one of the 8 designated pilgrimage sites in our Diocese, make a sacramental confession within 20 days before or after seeking the indulgence (which includes the intention of sincere detachment from all sin), receive Holy Communion during full, conscious, active participation at Mass, and pray for the intentions of the Pope (this is satisfied by reciting one Our Father and one Hail Mary, but you have the option of reciting any other prayer according to individual piety and devotion, if recited for his intention.)
Prayer Card Availability: The Diocesan Office for Parish Life has printed prayer cards that are available for pilgrims to pick up during their visits.
Please warmly welcome visitors throughout the Jubilee Year, guiding them as they seek to obtain the plenary indulgence and deepen their spiritual journey.

MEMORIAL DAY MASS
Mass will be held THIS Monday, May 26th, Memorial Day, at 11:00AM in St. John’s Cemetery, WEATHER PERMITTING. On this day we remember those who proudly served in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, as well as all our deceased loved ones. Please bring your own lawn chairs to the cemetery. If the weather is inclement, Mass will be held in St. Francis Church at 11:15AM. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
ST. JOHN’S CEMETERY NEWS
If you own plots in St. John Cemetery or know anyone who does, send your name, address & phone number to Diane Mooney, 26 Jackson St., Montrose, Pa. 18801.
ST. PATRICK’S CEMETERY—CLEAN–UP TIME
You are asked to please help get the cemetery cleaned up by removing old flower pots and decorations from your family graves. When you clean up, please take your debris with you. Do not throw it along the perimeter of the grounds for someone else to attend to.
HELPFUL FOR ALL CEMETERIES
Now is a good time for anyone who puts flower pots or decorations on any family graves in any cemetery to help do their part by cleaning up and removing all old flower pots and decorations from your family graves. When you clean up, please take your debris with you. Do not throw it along the perimeter of the cemetery for someone else to attend to. Cleaning up is very helpful to those who mow the cemeteries (their job is, after all, only to mow and weed eat) and your efforts help keep things looking nice for all visitors to enjoy.
ST. BRIGID PARISH CAPITAL RENOVATION FUND
There are many areas of our churches, rectory and hall that need renovations and repairs. In order to fund these repairs we have established a Capital Renovation Fund. This fund will be used for needed repairs and renovations and also be available for emergency repairs. It is our intention to maintain a fund balance of $ 50,000.00 funded initially by this parish appeal. Once that goal is reached we hope to maintain a baseline $ 50,000.00 with ongoing collections under the title of Capital Renovation Fund Collection. Thank you for your help making this Fund a reality and your continued help to keep it funded.
A big thank you everyone who has donated! We now have $ 60,900.00 collected! Every donation, no matter the size is a big help.
CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL
The Diocese of Scranton group will hold their Pentecost Celebration on Saturday, May 31st, from 9:00AM to 3:00PM at St. Maria Goretti Parish, 42 Redwood Dr. Laflin, Pa. Pentecost, the birth of the church, will be celebrated with praise and worship, a Holy Hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and messages from our speaker—Rev. Timothy Kennedy of Holy Ghost Parish in Jessup. Father Tim is a gifted speaker and will encourage and challenge us with two messages during the day. There will be coffee and donuts in the morning and a lunch of pasta, meatballs, and salad with choice of soda or water. Cost is $ 15.00 per person. You must preregister for lunch. For registration and selection go to: ccrscranton.org or call 570-344-2214 and leave a message. We will be taking a collection of socks and personal care items to donate to the shelters in the area. Bring something to help those in need.
2025 SENIOR FARMERS MARKET NUTRITIONAL PROGRAM
A flier is available in the back of the church for anyone interested in the 2025 senior farmers market nutritional program which provides eligible individuals with fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers’ markets. The flier tells how to get $ 25.00 vouchers for those who qualify.

HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION—ASCENSION OF THE LORD—THIS THURSDAY, MAY 29TH
Vigil Mass—Wednesday, May 28th—6:00PM—St. Augustine Church
Holy Day Mass Thursday, May 29th 6:00PM St. Francis Church

The Ascension of the Lord is the event, where Jesus arose into heaven, at the end of His time on earth. Jesus' time on earth began with His birth and was interrupted for three days by His death on the Cross. During that time, He descended into the realm of the dead and preached the Gospel to the good people who died before Him. This allowed those good and holy souls the righteous dead, as we call them who accepted Christ as their Savior to proceed to heaven. On the third day after his death and burial, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, an event we call the Resurrection. He spent the next 40 days preaching and preparing His disciples to perform the work of preaching and baptizing all people. At the end of this 40 day period, Jesus ascended into heaven.
SECOND COLLECTION CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS CAMPAIGN
Next week our special collection supports the Catholic Communications Campaign. This campaign connects Catholics with Christ in the United States using the internet, television, radio, and print media. Half of the money we collect remains here in the Scranton Diocese to fund local communications efforts. The other half supports the communication activities of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and some projects across the United States and abroad. Your support spreads the gospel message! Learn more at www.usccb.org/ccc .

BLESSING OF HOMES
It is traditional to bless homes during the Easter Season. If you would like your home blessed, please call the Parish office (570-553-2288) or Father Augustine (570-909-7819) and schedule a day and time for Father to bless your home.

PARISH LOTTERY CALENDARS
There are still a few Lottery Calendars in the back of the Churches. They are $ 20.00 each and run thru December 31st. There are ONLY 80 calendars left a couple of packages of (5) and some single calendars. The numbers are definitely going down! If every family would take one or two more calendars they would be gone! To date 850 Calendars have been returned. If a calendar wins now and is sold later, the purchaser will still get the money! Please get your calendars sold and returns in ASAP! Please help make this VERY important fund raiser a sell out again this year!
ADORATION HELP IS ALWAYS NEEDED
Substituting even once would help. Jesus is always happy to visit with you. Can you help out once a month? Can you help every once in a while? Please let Rosalynd Perlick know—(570-663-2212). This way you aren’t scheduled every week—you are only scheduled when you are available.
