Chapter III Walking Home

While the children had been at school, the village had been busy. David and Felix passed a group of neighbor women who were cooking palm fruit for oil. One neighbor was separating the pulp of the palm fruit from the hard inner kernel. This meant standing in a shallow tub of water, so it was a good thing to do on a hot day. The bright color of the fruit had turned the water orange. Another neighbor was pounding the pulp and a third was putting it in the pot to boil. The baby’s bright eyes noticed everything.
