My name is Shane McDonald and I am an established art director and graphic designer with 34 years of marketing experience in conventional advertising, digital advertising, social media, editorial design, and graphic design. During my fun career in being creative everyday, I had the good fortune to have worked in Europe as well as in Canada.
My marketing and design experience brings with it a maturity in handling all types of projects and deadlines while working very easily with others to accomplish best results. I have had the privilege to have worked with many professional creative directors, art directors, copywriters, photographers, commercial film directors, producers, illustrators, account executives, and countless clients throughout the years, giving you the peace of mind that you will be working with a seasoned professional, mature enough to get the job done right the first time.

Senior designer in charge of producing all product packaging, logo design, social media marketing ads (Facebook, Youtube, Tik Tok etc..), video editing, website design, in-store POS, brochures, billboard advertising, company signage, Google display advertising, copywriting, photography and industry trend research for marketing trends and ideas.
Skills obtained at this workplace: Video editing, social media advertising, influencer marketing, package design, e-commerce website design.
Why did I leave the company?
I left the company in January 2023 because of financial issues the company suffered due to the COVID-19 epidemic and because the CEO was actively trying to sell the company. It was time to move on as they say.
2001-2018
Position: Owner Tin Design and Tin Greetings

For 17 years I worked freelance art directing and designing for many different marketing agencies, companies in a myriad of industries, Government, and institutions throughout Canada.
Many of these clients I serviced for more than a decade each. I worked hard at building relationships that in some cases still last to this day. I earned my keep. I learned a lot about business during these years and I started a second business called Tin Greetings where I designed small artistic greeting cards and gift tins for retail gift stores around the Maritimes and Canada. In 2006 I was invited to attend a trade event through the Government of New Brunswick and the State of Florida where I was able to present my gift tin product to the product buyers at Disney® in Orlando, Florida. My product was chosen and began selling at the Canada Pavillion at Epcot.

I left the company because I was enticed to help a start up company in the health supplement category grow their brand and sales in Canada. Sounded like fun and I wouldn’t have to chase clients for payments anymore.

Why did I leave the company?
I left the company because it was a toxic environment and I needed to get out of there. I felt it was now time to go it on my own.

Art Director responsible for creating print, outdoor, radio and TV commercial ads working with a copywriting partner for clients such as Purolator, Grand and Toy, Honda Canada, Fuji Canada, Jaeger Meister, Lotus Notes, Orville Redenbacher, TD Canada Trust.
Skills obtained at this workplace:
Working at this agency taught me how to work with a copywriter and account team creating ad campaigns for large clients. A lot of television and radio work was done during this period as well as Billboards and transit advertising.
Why did I leave the company?
I left the company because I was offered an opportunity to advance to senior art director at an agency closer to family.

I left the company because I was offered an opportunity to advance to art director.
