Καλώς Ήρθατε The Academy of Hellenic Paideia invites you to the 8th Annual TIMARETE Festival, a festival that promotes Hellenic Art and Culture, the biggest Hellenic Art and Culture festival in New York dedicated to the children. TIMARETE is an annual festival held in New York and organized by Academy of Hellenic Paideia, a non-profit organization that focuses in teaching the Greek language, preserving and promoting our culture through interactive teaching methods and helping students develop their critical thinking. Students enjoy a plethora of subjects taught at Academy, such as Delphic Maxims, Theater, Iliad, Odyssey, Dimensions of Wellness, Pankration, Greek Language, Calligraphy, Looming, Mythology, History, Geography, Math, Technological Inventions in Ancient Greece, Physics Experiments, Greek Grocery Management, Drawing through Geometry, Music and more alongside our Hellenic Preschool program.

TIMARETE Festival An Annual Celebration of Hellenic Art and Culture Purpose & Mission: TIMARETE is an annual festival dedicated to the promotion and celebration of Hellenic art and culture. Its primary goals include: • Promoting Hellenic art, language, and cultural heritage • Raising funds to support and expand educational programs that preserve the Greek language and traditions • Supporting the expansion of the Academy of Hellenic Paideia, including the addition of new classrooms and higher grade levels • Promoting and supporting the Hellenic American Project (HAP) at Queens College, CUNY The festival features a rich array of cultural events such as: • Film screenings • Theatrical performances • Music and dance showcases • Art exhibitions and more Through these vibrant experiences, TIMARETE brings together artists, educators, and the community to celebrate and preserve the beauty of Hellenic heritage.

IOANNA KATSAROU, Director

Ioanna Katsarou is an actor, director, and theater educator. She is the CoArtistic Director of the award-winning Eclipses Group Theater NY and a founding member of the former Aktis Aeliou Art Theater, which was honored as “The Best Regional Theater in Greece” by the Greek Critics Association in 2006. She is a member of the Lincoln Center Directors’ Lab (2017) and has been working as a theater director with the American Academy of Dramatic Arts since 2020. www.ioannakatsarou.com

ALEXANDROS AMMOHOSTIANOS

THE CAST

Alexandros is the Artistic Director of the Hellenic Cultural Center NYC and the founder of FAMA Theater Group NY, which has produced over 20 theatrical works in recent years. He is also the visionary behind FAMA Media Group. With extensive experience as a producer, director, and actor, Alexandros has contributed to numerous English and Greek productions across theater, television, and film in the United States, Greece, and Cyprus.

A proud Greek-American with roots in both Cyprus and Greece, he holds degrees in Theater, Television, Film, and Mass Media from AMDA, Hunter College, and Spalding University. His diverse academic background and cultural heritage enrich his artistic endeavors and inspire his creative vision.

MARTHA ARGYRIOU Martha Argyriou is an actress from Greece with a strong background in theater. She began performing in Greek plays as a teenager and, at the age of 18, moved to London, where she spent five years training with Drama Classes London. During her time there, she took on a variety of roles, with her final performance being the role of Bottom in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Theatro Technis in London. She later portrayed Masha in Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull” at HB Playwrights Theatre in New York City, continuing to grow her presence on the international stage.

THE CAST ATHANASIA LEKKA Athanasia Lekka is an inspiring actress and singer, born and raised in the picturesque village of Elika, Laconia — nestled in the heart of Sparta, Greece. She began her acting journey in the theatrical adaptation of the beloved classic “Yparxei kai Filotimo.” Her talent quickly gained attention, leading to her participation in several productions, including “Dinner With the Smacks,” “O Axortagos,” and “Lysistrata White House” — a bold, fully improvised political satire set in America.

DESPINA PARAS Despina Paras was born and raised in Astoria, New York. She holds a degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, along with a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Her professional experience includes working in both public school settings and private clinics.

She is happily married to her husband, Chris, and together they have a son, Leo-Michael. Despina’s passion for music and dance is deeply rooted in her family—her late grandfather, Giorgios Skoufaras, was a highly respected traditional Greek band leader. A true lover of the arts, Despina is thrilled to be part of this year’s theatrical production by the Academy of Hellenic Paideia, directed by the esteemed stage director, Ioanna Katsarou. She believes that theater is the highest form of expression, one that inspires empathy, humor, and human connection.

NATASSA PROTOPSALTI Natassa Protopsalti grew up on the beautiful island of Corfu. From a young age, she had a deep love for performing roles inspired by classic Greek cinema. At the age of 23, she began her theater journey with a local association named “Fillipos Vlachos” from the historic village of Old Peritheia, where she took on numerous roles in plays by renowned Greek playwrights. In 2019, Natassa moved to New York to expand her artistic horizons and has continued to pursue her passion for acting ever since.

She is an active member of the theatrical workshop “Logos & Praxi” at the Academy of Hellenic Paideia in Astoria, NY, where she brings a variety of vibrant characters to life on stage. Natassa believes that life is richer with theater and laughter — and she is committed to continuing her creative journey for years to come.

ARIS TENTES Aris Tentes was born in Patras and raised in Athens. He studied Applied Mathematics and Physics at the National Technical University of Athens and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Logic and Algorithms from the University of Athens. In 2008, Aris moved to New York to pursue a Ph.D. in Cryptography and Theoretical Computer Science. Upon completing his studies, he relocated to London to begin a career in finance as a Quantitative Analyst. In 2021, he returned to New York, and in 2024, he made his theatrical debut in the play “Bam kai Kato” with the “Logos & Praxi” workshop of the Academy of Hellenic Paideia.
