Nestled in San Francisco, California, Tina Frey Designs creates handcrafted tableware collections, sculptural objects, furniture, lighting, and decorative accessories for both home and outdoor spaces. With a vision rooted in artistic design, the studio emphasizes colour, form, and tactile experiences, blending minimalist functionality with a touch of luxury.
Founded in 2007 by Tina Frey, the studio was born from her desire to pursue art and creativity - a lifelong passion. Today, Tina strives to bring light and joy into the world, one piece at a time, creating objects that are as meaningful as they are beautiful. Each piece begins as a hand-sculpted clay model where the artist’s fingerprints become part of the final design, adding a uniquely human touch. These models are used to craft moulds for small-batch production. Every item is hand-sanded to perfection, ensuring the organic, wabi-sabi quality that sets Tina Frey Designs apart. “You’ll find no heavy machinery in our workshop”, Tina shares. “It’s an entirely hands-on process that results in pieces with character and soul, something mass production simply can’t replicate”. Drawing inspiration from her love of travel, nature, and global cultures, the designs reflect a simple yet authentic beauty.
The Lab is a continuing journey for Tina Frey. A collection of distinctive, limited-edition works at the intersection of design and sculpture. Through The Lab, Tina explores form, materiality, scale, and the role design plays as part of our daily surroundings. Each piece is crafted with an emphasis on artistry and produced in small series or limited editions. The Lab embodies a refined vision of contemporary craftsmanship, intended for private or public spaces where art and design converge.
At 3 Days of Design 2025 in Copenhagen, the new Orbit Collection was launched, presenting a series of sculptural furniture pieces that explore celestial movement, balance, and interconnectedness.
Rendered in her signature material, the collection features organic, flowing silhouettes that emphasize lightness and fluidity while maintaining a strong sculptural presence.
The pieces include a medium chair and a smaller accent table - each reflecting the artist’s distinctive design language through translucent forms and harmonious curves.
Miami Art Week - 2024
The Meditation Orb is an experiential art installation that serves as a tool for selfreflection, guiding individuals inward to cultivate inner peace and well-being.
The orb’s smooth, calming texture encourages a meditative experience, promoting mindfulness and grounding users in their inner world. Its minimalistic form reduces distractions, drawing attention to the present moment.
The orb evokes feelings of love, peace, and joy through sound technology, featuring solfeggio frequency infused meditation music. Vibration technology further heightens sensory experiences, making it both immersive and transformative. This innovation creation blends design and technology for meditation.
The concept for Miami in 2023 is based on the simple idea of the brick. However, this is not just “another brick in the wall”. This simple translucent colorful brick has a soft feeling of lightness that is stacked in various formations.
The resulting assemblages are collectible and functional items. The formation of bricks can form an undulating wall in a delicate shade, a nude hued lamp, an ocean blue welcoming desk, gentle fog colored entry table, lush green coffee table, to delicious candy colored seating… Each of these assemblages are painstakingly put together and are unique and one-of-a-kind creations.
There is still more than meets the eye. In addition to the variety of colors, each furniture item has potential variations within the brick which holds a secret. From the outside, it looks like colorful convex dots. These are secret drawers scattered throughout the pieces and are pops of color and pattern that mimics the shape of the bumps on top of each brick. They invite exploration through touch to discover what the secret is inside each drawer.
Tina Frey offers furniture collections characterized by minimalist modern designs, tailored for high-end interiors, alongside sculptural objects that seamlessly blend art and utility. These thoughtfully designed pieces elevate any environment with their striking forms and attention to detail. Featured at prestigious venues worldwide, the studio collaborates with luxury hotels, Michelin-starred chefs includingAlain Ducasse, private jet and yacht designers, interior designers, and architects.
