Since its opening in 1980, Keny Galleries has specialized in the research, exhibition and sale of American art. And during this time the legacy of Ohio’s historic artists as well as the ongoing representation of leading contemporary artists from Ohio has been central to our mission. The current exhibition reflects that focus. Major works by such well-known historic Ohio artists as George Bellows, Alice Schille, Edward Potthast, Emerson Burkhart, William Hawkins, Elijah Pierce, and Margaret Bourke-White are included in the show as are fine examples by 12 contemporary artists that we have been honored to represent over the years.

As this presentation begins, another exciting exhibition is taking place at Capital University’s Schumacher Gallery entitled Masterworks by Ohio Artists. Curated by James M. Keny, it showcases the outstanding collection of Ohio art the museum has built over the past 50 years. The show is comprised of 70 outstanding works, 20 of which are analyzed in depth in the exhibition catalog.

Fortunately, the gallery has been able to place major examples by Ohio artists in museum collections including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Atlanta’s High Museum of Art, and eight Ohio institutions. It has also loaned work by Ohio artists to international venues in Mexico City, Tokyo, Santiago, Berlin and Paris, and dozens of major museums from Boston to Los Angeles.

We hope you can join us at the gallery to experience these works and are also able to visit Capital University’s show which is on display until December 7.
