Harmony Garden Centre - Mother's Day 2026

Page 1

Flowers with Heart

Mother’s Day at Harmony is set to be something truly special. We’re bringing together an incredible line up of local florists to create a vibrant pop up filled with fresh, seasonal flowers crafted with genuine care.

Ange leads the team with more than 20 years of experience and a natural talent for creating arrangements that feel just right. She is joined by Janita, whose refined style and deep floristry knowledge add a beautiful sense of calm behind the scenes. Kate from Clifton Blooms will keep us stocked with her farm grown natives, supporting our commitment to freshness, sustainability and local growers.

Many of you know Indy from in store, and her relaxed, effortless style will shine in her Mother’s Day bouquets. We are also thrilled to welcome Lani from The Romantics Florist, bringing a modern, artistic edge that feels personal and thoughtfully crafted. Alongside them, Sonia’s stunning Acton Blooms bouquets, grown just five kilometres from Harmony, add another layer of local goodness.

Mother’s Day is one of our busiest times and demand will be strong. With ongoing supply challenges across the flower industry, we recommend ordering online early to secure your flowers.

This is more than a pop up. It is a celebration of local talent, beautiful blooms and a shared passion for creating something meaningful. We cannot wait to share it with you.

Finding Rhythm in the Clay

It is often said that the most meaningful things don’t begin with a grand business plan, but with a simple gesture. Back in February 2018, when Andrew Clark handed a pottery gift voucher to Ange, he couldn’t have known that a single afternoon at a wheel would ignite a passion that would eventually reshape the landscape of the Harmony Garden Centre.

That initial spark—a curiosity about the tactile, messy, beautiful process of working with clay—has blossomed into The Pottery Studio at Harmony. Today, the studio stands as a sanctuary; a space where the frantic pace of modern life is left at the door, replaced by the rhythmic hum of spinning wheels and the grounding scent of earth and water.

A Community of Makers

What makes this studio truly unique isn’t just the clay, but the people who guide the process. Ange, who now leads the studio, brings a deeply personal perspective to her teaching. Having walked the path from beginner to mentor, she understands the initial intimidation of the wheel. Her approach is rooted in patience and genuine support, ensuring that every student feels encouraged, regardless of skill level.

She is joined by an incredible collective of creative spirits. You’ll find the beautiful, expressive energy of Loz from Stranger Designs, the deep technical mastery of Christine from Magpie Tree Pottery—whose insight into glazing is nothing short of transformative—and the refined, delicate artistry of Chloe, whose work adds a layer of quiet beauty to the studio’s offerings. Together, this team has curated an environment that is less of a classroom and more of a creative retreat.

More Than a Pot

Walk into the studio during a session, and you’ll notice something immediately: there is no pressure to create perfection. There is no rigid expectation. Instead, there is a shared joy in the process. Students arrive as strangers and leave with clay on their hands and a renewed sense of calm. Whether you are looking for a creative outlet for yourself or a meaningful experience for a loved one, the studio offers a rare opportunity to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with your hands.

Looking Ahead

With classes now available through an easy-to-use online portal, the community is growing faster than ever. As we look toward the warmer months, the studio has an exciting evolution on the horizon: the introduction of memberships in Spring 2026. This will offer seasoned students and budding potters alike the chance to treat the studio as their own, with access to equipment and firing services that allow for deeper, ongoing practice.

The Pottery Studio at Harmony is, at its heart, about the space we create for ourselves. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the best way to find your center is to get your hands a little dirty.

Growing Phalaenopsis 101

Phalaenopsis orchids are often misunderstood, but they are actually quite simple to care for once you understand their nature as “epiphytes” that crave air, light, and quick drainage. By using clear pots to mimic their natural tree-dwelling environment and mastering a “soak and dry” watering rhythm, you can enjoy their elegant blooms for months on end.
