Business Briefcase byShaneMcOwen

IN THE BIZ

Welcome to the Business Briefcase, readers! Glad to have your eyes fixed on the page for the next few moments. I’ll try to keep that length to a healthy minimum, since I’m sure everyone has a busy day ahead of him (or behind, depending on when this is read). It will be long enough to learn about a few of the happenings around the West Valley, ShaneMcOwen don’t worry. Feel free to linger on the page as long as you want to, readers. Who am I to tell you how long you should glance? Stick around for as long as you’d like. Check out the wellcrafted ads, break out the magnifying glass and search for typos (don’t tell me if you find any), or even draw a little parrot and eye-patch combo on the photo. I actually recommend that one, it’s fun. OK, pens down. Let’s get to the business news. First up, we have a kept promise to announce! Those who read last week’s edition saw that your Briefcase host told everyone he’d get to the bottom of some construction in Goodyear near the southeast corner of Pebble Creek Parkway and Virginia Avenue, and he’s not about to let everyone down. Turns out, the construction is for Liv Goodyear, a future green apartment community that will feature a private health club with a multitude of amenities and gathering lounge spaces.

Liv has four apartment communities in Arizona — in Scottsdale, Ahwatukee, Chandler and Gilbert — and one in Michigan. Goodyear Site A is currently under construction and will be 326 units. Site B will add 106 more units next to Site A. The groundbreaking for Site B has yet to be announced. For information on Liv, visit livliving.com. Out in Tonopah, Dollar General has an opening date. It’s right now! The dollar store, 37930 W. Salome Highway, is open for business and will celebrate that fact with a grand opening celebration starting at 8 a.m. Saturday. There will reportedly be free prizes and special deals, and the first 50 adult shoppers will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card. The first 200 will get a tote bag with some complimentary samples. Dollar General is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week. For information, visit dollargeneral.com. In Avondale, it’s double the fun this Friday. The Southwest Valley Chamber of Commerce is hosting a dual ribbon cutting celebration for two new businesses: College
