arrett-Jackson’s decision to bring a live auction event to Scottsdale in October could be a shot in the arm for the local economy, but the announcement has also drawn criticism for posing an unnecessary health risk during the

coronavirus pandemic. The Scottsdale-based auto auction announced July 30 that it would relocate its 2020 Las Vegas and Palm Beach, Florida, auctions to Westworld Oct. 22-24. A Barrett-Jackson spokesman said the company chose Scottsdale because of its familiarity with the city and operations at Westworld, which has hosted the company’s

annual Scottsdale auction since 1989. “It gives the collector car community a comfortable, familiar place to reunite and enjoy the hobby,” spokesman Aaron Cook said. “Hosting the event in Scottsdale gives us greater flexibility and time to adjust plans as we get closer to the auction.”
