Scottsdale near head of the class in classy apartments BY CECILIA CHAN Progress Staff Writer

T

he amenities race in the apartment industry has been intensifying in the country over the past decade with 86% of new builds classified as luxury dwellings, a recent study said. And Scottsdale is among the cities leading the pack nationally.

Arizona in particular showed a tendency toward luxury living since 2012 with Chandler as well as Gilbert and Scottsdale seeing almost exclusively high-end apartments going up within their boundaries, according to a study by StorageCafe. In the study’s top 20 list of High-End Apartment Living, Gilbert, Chandler and Scottsdale landed the No. 1, 2 and 4 spots, respectively, in the country, according to

T

his past season at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts was unlike anything that program director Abbey Messmer and Scottsdale Arts CEO Gerd Wuestemann had seen in their careers. “It’s been a roller coaster ride for everyone in their personal lives and their work lives including us,” Messmer said. “We’ve grown together along the way and adapted in a lot of ways and we were able to stay open the entire year.” Despite the challenges of putting on shows as the world navigated its way through a pandemic, The Center for the Performing Arts managed to put on 207 shows through June 15.
