cottsdale City Council on June 7 approved the city’s 2022-23 budget with no surprises. The $2.1 billion plan includes a property tax rate reduction of 10 cents per $100 of assessed valuation, an operating budget of $658.8 million, $29.5 million
for grants and special districts, roughly $1.1 billion for capital projects and $356.6 in reserves and contingencies. It calls for 33.4 new full-time-equivalent positions that would bring the city’s work force to 2,588.9 positions as well as a 5% pay increase for existing staff and 3% merit raises. The budget also includes funding for various items such as $621,855 for a

short-term rental unit in the Police Department, $2.3 million for Super Bowl preparations, and increases in water cost and other inflation-related increases. The capital budget represents a 29.5% increase over the current year. The General Fund portion of that budget is $117.9 million.
