Compost Hub, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Food is the number one item in landfills, and when it rots it creates methane, a greenhouse gas 84 times more potent than CO2. But when food scraps are composted, they build soil and encourage plant growth – which pull carbon from the atmosphere. Now you can drop your food scraps at the Playa Vista Market Compost Hub. They accept all organic matter, but please no compostable plastics. “Compost Goalie” volunteers are needed to help make sure non-compostables stay out of their pile. Interested in volunteering? “We love serving people. We’re just a service company. I love our shops and selling ice cream in grocery stores. We speak directly to you through pints and packaging. We tell you a little story about the ice cream. I think that’s the best way to put it.”
