Veterans sacrificed a great deal when they served only to, sometimes, come home to less-than-ideal circumstances. Forrest Anderson Plumbing and Air Conditioning honors them with the annual Military Hero A/C Giveaway around Veterans Day. This year’s recipient was Peoria resident and Army veteran Olga Tucker. She received a surprise knock on her door on Nov. 9 from Forrest Anderson’s president and service manager, Audrey Monell and David Veatch, respectively, informing her of the A/C unit. “I was definitely surprised,” the medically retired single mother of three said. “There was a little bit of anticipation leading up to it and kind of hopefulness.” Forrest Anderson will replace Tucker’s failing 27-year-old A/C unit with a new one, fully installed with the help of industry partners MORSCO HVAC/Bush Supply and Smiley Crane Service. The students thought that would be an awesome idea.” As a part of its community service program, Lowe’s helped Peoria Unified

School District’s oldest high school make its vision of the orchard come to life. On the morning of Nov. 2, Lowe’s donated 230 bags of mulch, seven citrus trees (lemon, orange and mandarin), five vines and all the necessary tools. To finish the orchard, Lowe’s brought more than a dozen volunteers. Three more trees are coming in January. SEE AGRICULTURE PAGE 3
