COVID-19 has taken a significant toll on the mental health and academic achievement of kindergarten to 12th grade students nationwide. School districts across America adapted and overcame various challenges caused by the pandemic in different ways. The Peoria Unified School District is using a new learning system and increased support for students to overcome the challenges COVID-19 imposed on its students. ‘Power couple’ teams for new television show BY CHRISTINA FUOCO-KARASINSKI Peoria Times Executive Editor
Former ABC15 Smart Shopper Chelsey Davis Hamilton had two dreams that, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, she brought to fruition. The Centennial High School graduate longed to write children’s books and appear on the small screen with her husband, Brandon Hamilton, a former TV host and anchor/reporter.
Their show, “Home Sweet Arizona,” will regularly air on CW61Arizona at 11:30 a.m. Saturdays, but the premiere is set for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, just after the Day of the Dead Parade. The first episode will address “all-things scary.” “It’s going to be a lot of fun being able to finally be on a show together,” Davis Hamilton said. “We’ve always been at competing stations. We’re doing all aspects of this together — hosting, executive producing, shooting and editing.”
