We have a very extensive backline of mics, preamps, amps, guitars, keyboards, drums and other goodies to help facilitate our work. The studio is also available to free lance engineers and producers for their own projects. We also provide band re hearsal space and a venue for special events, such as release parties and video shoots.”Thestudio is powered by a digital re cording workstation, featuring Pro Tools Ultimate with HDX and a suite of plugins. It has outboard gear from the likes of API, SSL, Neve and Universal Audio ready to be patched in.

“I stress that to our interns as well. When I was in engineering school in 1999, the image that was portrayed to me was the chef in the kitchen screaming at the staff, that cantankerous old audio en gineer fit the mold. I disliked that idea. That culture stops at the door.”

He added that California rejected an earlier proposal from Arizona and Ne vada that would have conserved 2 mil lionLien-Mageracre-feet. said California has “stepped up in some innovative ways to conserve water, resulting in over 1.5 million acre-feet of water conserved in Lake Mead over the past 15 years.”

BY RYAN KNAPPENBERGER Cronkite News

The moves come as water levels in Lake Mead have fallen to historically low levels, sparking a federal proposal to cut consumption by 2 million to 4 million acre-feet per year. That would be done by reducing water allocation to states in the Colorado River basin — reductions that hit Arizona hardest and California, for the moment, not at all.

and we are willing to step up again be cause we believe extraordinary action is Theneeded.”Bureau of Reclamation in Au gust declared that lake levels have fall en far enough to trigger the second tier of the Drought Contingency Plan de veloped in 2019 by Arizona, California and Nevada. That plan calls for Arizo na to get 592,000 acre-feet less water from the river starting next year, com pared to 25,000 acre-feet for Nevada and no reductions for California.

“We’ve invested billions of dollars in urban and agricultural water con servation across Southern California through programs that reach virtually every Colorado River water user in the state,” Lien-Mager said in an emailed statement. “California has done a lot

But a spokesperson for the Califor nia Natural Resources Agency said the state has long been working for years to conserve Colorado River water and that it is continuing to do so. And Cal ifornia is ready to work with others in the basin going forward, said Lisa Lien-Mager, the spokesperson.

That breakdown has its roots in a series of water agreements and court decisions in the early 20th century that gave California priority rights over Arizona and Nevada during droughts, and specifically over the Central Ari zona Project, the state’s largest water provider.Despite that history, local officials say Arizona is bearing too much of the burden and needs help if the basin is to avoid a worse shortage. Arizona’s proposed Tier 2 reduction is 21% of the state’s regular annual allotment of 2.8 million acre-feet of water. An acrefoot is 326,000 gallons of water — the amount it would take to cover 1 acre to a depth of 1 Specifically, foot.they say, California needs to step up. Under the current plan, California would not have to give up any of its allocation until lake levels fall far enough to trigger Tier 2B, when

He pointed to testimony by Bureau of Reclamation Commissioner Camille Touton in June, when she called on Southwestern states to work together to find a way to conserve up to 4 mil lion acre-feet on top of current conser vation efforts. But California “ignored this urgent call and failed to offer any significant contributions to protect the system to date,” Stanton’s letter said.

Without any strong commitment, Campbell said the situation is dire.

“You could cut Colorado River water from every major city in the West from Phoenix to Denver and it wouldn’t be enough without California,” Campbell said. “It’s just math.”

But Campbell said California is key to any hope for the basin.

Patrick Dent, assistant general man ager for the Central Arizona Project, said that all states receiving water from the Colorado need to step up.

“There are certainly calls within our state and around the basin that Cal ifornia do more to protect the system than they have done to date,” Dent said. “But not just California. I think everyone needs to be a part of the next challenge.”Inaddition to the 2019 Drought Con tingency Plan for the lower basin states, those in the upper basin — Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Wyoming — have their own multistate plan to re

But rather than making cuts to each state’s water allotment, it focuses on conservation and releasing more dammed water into theStanton’sriver. letter echoes Dent, that the Colorado can’t be saved without full participation.“Thecutsnecessary cannot possibly be borne by one or two states alone,” Stanton said. “It’s time for all states, including California, to do their part.”

“You’ve got the accelerator fully down and you’re heading to the cliff, ‘Thelma and Louise’ style, and there’s no plan,” she said.

et me intro duce you to Bruno if you don’t know him. In the movie “Encan to,” Bruno is the uncle who no one in his family talks about.

The Hebrew word for unity is “Echad.” “Echad” means to “strong ly fence the door.” So, from this word picture, unity comes when we strong ly fence the door. What does that mean? Let me quote Frank here in his teachings.“Imagine that you were in a movie theater and saw a fire start in front of the theater. What are you going to do? Like me, you will get out of the the ater fast! But suppose that the theater doors are locked and there is no way

Billboard said, “We might not talk about Bruno, but music fans are sing ing about Bruno. ‘We Don’t Talk About Bruno,’ the breakout hit from Disney’s ‘Encanto,’ is hitting brandnew heights on the Billboard Hot 100. The song is peaking at No. 2 and be

So today, I’m going to talk about Bruno. Why? Because I have a deep-rooted concern for families and relationships. Let’s explore the subjects of unity and harmony. How can you achieve unity in your family, business, marriage, nation or church?

Why didn’t people like to talk about Bruno? He is a scraggly looking, stut tering, “hippo in the garden” type of guy. He foretells what will happen in the future if the family keeps going the way they are going. Unfortunate ly, the family thinks he is negative, causing bad things rather than just re porting what will happen. Following his disappearance, it became taboo to mention Bruno. He was reviled as a villainous figure by the townsfolk un til his deep-rooted love for his family was unearthed at the movie’s end. The family finally understood that his gift

one relationship to another. Too many nations divide because two different philosophies dig in, and the nation’s leaders don’t have the maturity or val ues to negotiate their differences like they used to. When people dig in, they are usually digging their graves.

It takes commitment to the relation ship first and self-interest second to look for a win-win, not the current win-lose we see everywhere and in everything these days. Often, the peo ple and institutions discussing diver sity are the most frequent violators of their own rhetoric. We need to heal so

What if we were committed to our nation, employer, church, spouse and the like with this perspective? I’m not talking about staying in extreme, abu sive, toxic, one-way relationships. But too many relationships are broken that didn’t need to be because of hubris, fear, previous hurts or how to get back together. We don’t know how to talk about Bruno other than to suppress and villainize him.

In every relationship of any kind, there will be a time when conflict comes. Conflict is inevitable when two or more parties try to work togeth er. Humility is a prerequisite to unity. First, there must be the willingness to work through issues, integrity and ma turity on both sides to negotiate. Then and only then can both parties agree to disagree, but not be disagreeable.

“We tend to take the door when faced between the fire and the door. But we are forced to deal with the fire when the door is locked. Unity is found in this simple analogy. Every relation ship is tested in times of trouble. We would not confront the fire if we left a door open. We have an excuse to leave when the fire gets bad enough.”

Let’s go back to that fire in the front of the theater. Wisdom says the fire is a bigger problem than your problem, agenda or issue when the doors are locked. Fight the fire, not the person or party next to you. Too many peo ple, nations, churches, businesses and the like have died in theater fires while fighting each other. Just think if fire fighters fought fires that way. Every one loses, and nothing is gained in the long run. Many times, the only thing worse than talking about Bruno is not talking about Bruno.
