Peoria’s Plaza Companies helms Cardinals project BY PEORIA TIMES STAFF Glendale officials and the Arizona Cardinals are collaborating with Peoria-based Plaza Companies to plan an innovative and vibrant mixed-use project that is expected to spur economic development for the city and the region. The 62-acre site is east of Loop 101, south of State Farm Stadium and to the east of the new Crystal Lagoons Island Resort development. It includes a parcel of land in the northwest portion of the property owned by an affiliate of the Arizona Cardinals. The remainder of the site is owned by the city of Glendale.
Upon completion, the vision for this high-energy, mixed-use environment could include up to 600,000 square feet of Class A office development, more than 60,000 square feet of quality retail amenities, restaurant and entertainment space, hotels, and approximately 230 units of multifamily residential. The site will be master planned to provide event parking for State Farm Stadium and the Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, while creating a vibrant fan experience. Sean Reavie is continuing his mission to help ease the pain of abused children. He’s raising money to do so with his third Superhero Golf Scramble, presented by Dr. Bill Elrey and NeXus Rehab + Spine, on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Legacy Golf Resort in Phoenix. “The first year, we sold out everything,” said Reavie, a North Phoenix resident. “We did fantastic numbers. Last year, we all got
‘2020’d.’ We had to cut the field in half. We still sold out, but we didn’t get near the sponsors we had. We still did it though. “To me, it was important to keep the continuity going. This year, we’re back to a full field. We sold as many tickets as last year’s amount. The sponsorship is through the roof. People are excited to come out and play.” The tourney benefits Reavie’s Glendale-based nonprofit, Put on the Cape: A Foundation for Hope. In October, he disburses the funds to advocacy centers
throughout the Valley. In two years, he’s raised more than $40,000 to comfort and empower abused children seeking help in greater Phoenix child advocacy centers. “The Southwest Family Advocacy Center will have tables at the event to hand out information to the golfers as nearly all are parents,” Reavie said.
