he first quarter report for campaign finances was due on April 15 for those running election races ahead of the Aug. 2 primary. This election cycle is chalked full of candidates. As Mayor Cathy Carlat finishes her final term, Bridget Binsbacher and Jason Beck are campaigning to take over for Peoria’s first full-time mayor. In addition to the mayoral race, Jennifer Crawford is running against the incum-

Brad Shafer, Mesquite District’s interim councilmember, did not have a quarter one campaign finance report. He took over for Binsbacher after she decided to run for mayor and is running in the election to remove the interim tag. There is a sizeable discrepancy in donations, spending and valuation between Binsbacher’s and Beck’s campaigns after quarter one. Prior to quarter one, Binsbacher’s cam-

Of the 49 total donations she receieved, the former councilmember’s largest donation came in the amount of $3,000. Beck’s campaign value was $49,493.06 ahead of the first quarter. He received a whopping $123,594.53 in donations and put $41,127.87 toward his campaign. Beck’s campaign value will enter quarter SEE CAMPAIGN PAGE 6
