Motorcycle foundation presents awards

The Peoria-based Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation handed out its Visionary Awards to community partners at its Share the Road/Riding for the Long Haul event in May. Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Director Alberto Gutier was given the 2020 award for supporting the foundation with multiple grants for motorcycle training and helmet assistance. Gutier has also been instrumental in reducing crashes and fatalities in Arizona. He took the lead in helping to reduce or eliminate distracted driving, too. The 2021 prizes went to Law Tigers, Dignity Health and nurse Wendy Otten, the Husband & Wife Law Team, Rosenbluth

The Law Tigers’ Warren Levenbaum, founder and chief executive officer, and Ari Levenbaum, chief marketing and operations officer, were given the award. Warren started the company and created the Arizona Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Foundation 20 years ago. The Levenbaums are committed to assisting injured rides or those needing legal assistance or looking for community support. Peoria City Council to vote on $695M budget

The Peoria City Council will vote on the proposed $695 million budget Tuesday, May 18, that maintains core citizen services with small, but necessary, adjustments to utility rates and without any increases to taxes, said Peoria City Manager Jeff Tyne. “This budget is a sensible plan that allows us to continue to provide exceptional core services to our residents,” Tyne said. “By taking a balanced and strategic ap-
proach to budgeting, the city of Peoria can continue to meet the changing needs of our community without compromising our financial future.” The proposed budget is comprised of four major categories: the operating budget at $328.8 million represents the day-to-day operations of the city; the capital budget at $241.9 million entails large, one-time capital projects; the debt service payments at $45.2 million; and the contingency reserve at $79.1 million.
