rizona recently declared a Colorado River Tier 2A shortage, affecting the water supply and economy across the region. But with Marana’s initial drought preparedness plan, implemented in 2007, the town was in stage zero, with no drought or water shortage in the area. Marana Water proposed a revised drought preparedness plan in early May to align it with other water providers in the state. The Marana Town Council unanimously approved and adopted the updated drought preparedness plan, reflect-

arana staff told the Marana Town Council that progress on Strategic Plan Five is going well. The document, which guides council actions to meet major town goals, was discussed by Andrea Caicedo, assistant to the town manager. “This strategic plan is a way to make sure the council’s priorities are at the forefront,” Caicedo said. “(This presentation) is more of a high-level update on our major accomplishments as well as looking forward to what’s coming next.” Strategic Plan Five is a three-year plan approved in September and focuses on 18 goals within five focus areas: cherished heritage, vibrant community, thriving commerce, healthy lifestyles and proactive public services. According to data collected through Envisio, a third-party performance management software company, Marana has progressed through 25% of its action items with 3% of
