Chamber honors local businesses
The Anthem Area Chamber of Commerce continued its 18year tradition of honoring local businesses and business leaders on Dec. 11 at Anthem Golf & Country Club.
Festivities began at 5 p.m. with a cocktail hour featuring champagne and butler-passed hors d’oeuvres, followed by a three-course dinner and the business awards ceremony. The awards ceremony was livestreamed to allow the community to celebrate as well.
Here are the winners.
Businessperson of the Year: Sam Crump

Economic Impact: Sunset Cyclery
Sunset Cyclery took top honors for rescuing a shuttered bike shop from foreclosure and rebuilding the business from the ground up. Amped Coffee Company and HonorHealth, both prior award recipients in this category, were also nominated.

Freeman Income Tax Service will sponsor its 10th annual shredathon from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the office, 41111 N. Daisy Mountain Drive, Anthem.
This is a free community service for those who want a safe and secure way to destroy their old tax returns and other important papers.
Volunteers from Youth for Troops will help transfer up to four banker-sized boxes to the onsite ProShred technician. From there, it will be destroyed onsite using a ProShred truck. Youth for Troops will accept donations, however, it is a free event.
“Wow,” said Kerry Freeman, owner of Freeman Income Tax Service. “Ten years has really gone quickly, and this event is now an event that the community has come to expect.” Youth for Troops’ mission is to inspire patriotism in fellow youth and across generations by volunteering on behalf of military and veterans through community service, advocacy and education.
