ADOT ready to begin work on I-17 BY ALLISON BROWN Foothills Focus Staff Wrier

A

stretch of I-17 from Anthem Way to Sunset Point will see improved traffic flow and enhanced safety after a massive project set to start this year, according to Gregory Byres, deputy director and state engineer for the Ari-

zona Department of Transportation. “I-17 is a project that we’re getting ready to kick off as things grow and it’s a pretty large project,” he explained. “It’s actually one of the larger projects that we have in what we call ‘greater Arizona.’ The project itself is 23 miles long. Construction is due to start later this year and it will take about three years

for completion.” To promote community outreach, ADOT has a virtual open house available on the project’s website through Tuesday, April 26. It will also host an in-person open house at 5:30 p.m. April 26 in Black Canyon City to share information

he Anthem Parkside Community Association welcomes new and returning faces to its board of directors and selects Darrin Francom to be the Parkside representative on the Anthem Community Council. The election was held to fill open seats on the HOA and the ACC boards of directors. There were seven candidates. Voting took place from March 14 to April 8 and results were announced April 11. Eric Jackson, Shari Miller and Chris Yano were elected to serve two-year terms on the APCA Board of Directors. Francom was re-elected to serve a three-year term as the association’s rep-

resentative on the Anthem Community Council.

Eric Jackson Jackson has lived in Anthem for 10 years, seven of those being in Parkside. A business development manager for more than 20 years, he is bringing his professional skills to the table. “I am appreciative of the fact that I am a resident of one of the best communities not only in the Phoenix area, but in the United States,” he said. “Having a seat on the board of the Anthem Parkside Community Association will allow me to directly impact the preservation and enhancement of our wonderful community that our residents deserve.”
