Catalina State Park lies at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, occupying 5,500 acres of scenic desert landscape and wildlife just minutes from Tucson. Visitors can camp, picnic or bird watch, as well as enjoy miles of equestrian, birding, hiking and biking trails meandering into the Coronado National Forest.

PLACE TO ESCAPE THE HEAT Mount Lemmon, Tucson Mount Lemmon lies north of Tucson in the Coronado National Forest, and is the highest point in the Santa Catalina Mountains.

During the summer, its cooler temperatures make it a great spot for hiking, biking, rock climbing, picnicking and catching a sunset.

The mountain’s northeastern side is home to Ski Valley, a popular destination for Arizonans during its snowy winter season.
