rights to The Edge. The quitclaim filed by Shea makes no reference to whether The Edge paid anything to obtain those rights. Attorneys for The Edge disclosed the transfer last week as they renewed their request to Superior Court Judge Joan Sinclair to let them intervene in the Club West Conservancy’s stillunresolved lawsuit against the homeowners association. And that disclosure may further complicate the future of the 165-acre site, which has been closed since early 2018.

The declarant rights have been central to the lawsuit. The Conservancy in March 2020 sued the previous Club West HOA board, contending it illegally acquired the declarant rights from Shea Homes, which got them in 1993 from a previous developer. Superior Court Commissioner Andrew Russell last April sided with the Conservancy, ruling that the board had violated the state open

Pride, Thunder put aside rivalry for food drive

ompetitors and rivals off the field, Desert Vista and Mountain Pointe students are taking the annual Ahwatukee Bowl tradition to the next level to benefit struggling families in the community. With the help of student councils from both schools and Bea Williams, Mountain Pointe’s academic interventionist, the two football programs have come together to form the Superfood Bowl, a food drive for canned and nonperishable Thanksgiving-themed goods. The food drive, which will support the Pride Pantry at Mountain Pointe High School and help to families in the community, started Nov. 1 and will end Friday, Nov. 12 – the same day as the annual rivalry game between the two football programs. At halftime during the Tukee Bowl, the school with the most donations will be announced and receive a traveling trophy, much like the Ahwatukee Foothills News Ahwatukee Bowl Trophy given to the winning team each year.
