If you were to replace it with a new 14 SEER unit you just gained 7x the energy efficiency. Your AC unit accounts for about 50% of your energy consumption, so that hefty of a SEER increase could easily save around a $1,000 a year on utility bills. Now that $3,000 repair bill doesn’t seem like such a good return on investment anymore, right? Instead you could replace your unit and have the utility savings now and they also pay you more over the next decade. Not to mention you won’t have the headaches and hot house stress with no working AC for a period of time.

Jaime Breedlove was initially discouraged to pursue a career in education. The low salary did not make it a promising career, people told her. So, she majored in psychology at Arizona State University. But Breedlove realized during her senior year that she belonged in a classroom and began the process of obtaining a teaching certificate. It’s a decision she hasn’t regretted, as she celebrates her 18th year of teaching in the Chandler Unified School District. She’s spent most of that time teaching kindergarten through third grade at Hull Elementary School. Breedlove said she loves watching her students learn and grow over the course of a school year. “My favorite thing is taking their weekly writing off the wall at the end of the year and seeing them grow from barely writing a few words on the page, to full paragraphs with such detail,” she said. Breedlove thinks a good teacher is able to make personal connections with each student and leave a memorable impression on their education. “Good teachers take the time to get to know each of their students and help them succeed in not only academic goals, but emotional and social goals as well,” Breedlove said.

Chandler Unified While she was still in high school, she served as a teacher’s aide in a class for students with intellectual disabilities. She loved it so much that after she got her degree from Arizona State University, Snesko returned to instruct the same students she had helped a few years earlier. This year marks her 20th year with the Chandler Unified School District. She spent some of that time teaching other subjects, but the majority of her career has been focused on special education. “I knew I wanted to teach high school students,” Snesko said. “I love working with juniors and seniors.” She enjoys having one-on-one conversations with students and helping them figure out what they’re going do after high school. The key to being a good teacher is listening, Snesko said, and forming a connection with students. “If a student knows you don’t care about them,” she said, “then they’re not going to perform for you.”

Hamilton Husky, also known as Hammy, is once again the most cherished mascot in town. Just last semester, the school revealed the identity of the very first Hammy the Husky — graduate Katelyn Anderson. Since Katelyn just graduated, the school held auditions for a replacement as a new year of exciting sports competitions began.
