Abrazo Arrowhead named a top regional hospital BY GLENDALE STAR STAFF Abrazo Arrowhead Campus has been recognized as a top regional hospital in the 2021-22 U.S. News Best Hospitals, ranked as “High Performing” in seven adult procedures and conditions. Abrazo Arrowhead Campus received High Performing rankings for treating the following adult procedures and conditions: abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, pneumonia and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). The rankings placed Abrazo Arrowhead Campus in the top 10 for both metro Phoenix (No. 6) and the state of Arizona (No. 7). US News’ evaluation of Abrazo Ar-
rowhead Campus also includes data from Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, a satellite of the Arrowhead Campus. “I want to express my thanks for the commitment of our employees and physicians for making this recognition possible. Former Glendale City Councilmember and Vice Mayor Manuel Martinez died in his home at age 93. Martinez spent his life serving others — his family, his country and the community. “I met Manny when I first got on the council and I looked to him as a mentor,” said Yvonne Knaack, former Glendale councilmember and vice mayor. “Over the course of eight years, we became very close friends, and he was a wonderful leader.” Martinez was born in Redlands, California, to Esiquia Diaz and Santiago Martinez.
