Live nativity event celebrates the holiday
SanTan Sun-area families are invited to celebrate the upcoming holiday season with First Baptist Church Chandler’s “Walk through Bethlehem” live nativity event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, through Sunday, Dec. 14.
Admission is free to the event, which begins with a puppet show and also features crafts for children and free cookies, hot chocolate and hot cider for everyone. Era-appropriate carolers, merchants and local village people, as well as a stable of live animals, will re-create the time of the birth of Jesus.

Chabad of the East Valley hosts its eighth annual golf tournament benefiting its East Valley Scholarship Fund on Sunday, Nov 23, at Club West Golf Club, 16400 S. 14th Ave., Phoenix.
The tournament begins with an 8 a.m. shotgun start, followed by a cookout and awards presentation. Arrival and registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Cost is $120 per individual golfer or $440 for a foursome; registration is limited to the first 144 golfers who sign up.
Chabad is a nonprofit organization offering extracurricular programs such as Camp Gan Israel, Youth Zone, Kids in the Kitchen, Chabad Hebrew School and more, all of which provide a safe haven keeping kids away from violence, allowing kids to develop new skills and interact positively with peers. Tri-City hosts holiday programs
SanTan Sun-area residents are invited to Tri-City Christian Academy’s annual holiday program, “Thanks for His Gift,” at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov 21, at Tri-City Baptist Church, 2211 W. Germann Rd. in Chandler.
Academy students from elementary through high school will sing and perform Thanksgiving and Christmas songs with the school’s bands and orchestras.
Tri-City Baptist Church also hosts a Christmas celebration at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14. The celebration includes performances of “A Night of Miracles,” an hour-long comedic play, and the International Baptist College and Seminary’s “Lessons and Carols,” featuring the college hand bell ensemble and chamber singers performing seasonal favorites, and the college choir performing Schubert’s “Mass in G.”
