‘Rock Shabbat,’ potluck under open sky
November 1 – 14, 2014
Spiritual Reflections Share your spiritual reflections...
Rock Shabbat Under the Stars begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Temple Emanuel of Tempe, 5801 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, with students from the Temple’s religious school adding their voices to the seven-piece Shabba-Tones band. A potluck dinner hosted by the religious school families will precede the service. Rock Shabbat is held on the first Friday of each month at Temple Emanuel of Tempe. Cantorial soloist Emily Kaye leads the Shabba-Tones through contemporary, rocking musical settings of prayers and meditations for the Sabbath. Based on traditional Kabbalat Shabbat services that welcome the Sabbath with song, Rock Shabbat infuses the prayers and other songs with a dynamic, modern, spiritual and musical energy, capped with dancing in honor of the Torah. To learn more, call (480) 838-1414 or visit www.emanueloftempe.org.
