Experimac gives new life to broken electronics BY ALISON STANTON

Smart device owners who watch in horror as their iPhone sinks to the bottom of the pool or when their iPad falls on the sidewalk have a new place to take their broken electronics. Experimac, which opened recently in Chandler, buys, sells, trades and repairs a wide variety of Mac products and also stocks parts and accessories. General Manager Travis Breinholt said the large staff at Experimac is happy to work with customers who have had issues with their Macs. “We can repair a MacBook Pro with a bad hard drive, an iPad with a broken screen, and we do a lot of water damage repair,” Breinholt said. Breinholt’s friend Walid Kaakoush owns Experimac. Breinholt said the two of them researched Experimac, a company that started in Florida.

“We liked what Experimac does and so we opened here in Chandler. We are actually the first Experimac in Arizona and even on the West Coast,” Breinholt said. He and Kaakoush have plans to eventually open more stores throughout the East Valley. Although Experimac has not been open for that long, Breinholt said business is brisk. “We are exceeding expectations, and Apple, AT&T and Verizon are even sending people over here,” he said. “We also help a lot of customers who have iPhones with bad batteries; this is one of our specialties.” Experimac also carries a wide selection of pre-owned Mac computers, Breinholt said. “We have a big showroom and we have 50 to 60 units here at one time. them are new, but most are pre-owned.” Unlike other Mac repair shops that might require the customer to leave his or her iPhone, iPad or other device for several days while it is fixed, Breinholt said they can do most repairs while the customer waits. “We have a nice waiting room with chairs and a television and we have a fridge full of water. The other night we had 12 people here watching the basketball game on television,” Breinholt said. “We understand that people cannot be without their iPhones and so what sets us apart is the ability for our customers to come in and wait. We usually say ‘give us 30 minutes’ and we have a pretty big staff and there are always several of us here at a time. I just think it’s important to have the ability to provide quick service to people.”

In addition to helping customers with their Mac products, Breinholt said he and Kaakoush are dedicated to giving back to the community. “We do a lot of sponsorships, including eight local soccer teams,” Breinholt said. “We try to do our part. I was born and raised in Chandler and this is my home, so we try to put as much back into it as possible.” Experimac is located at 4015 S. Arizona Ave., Suite 4, in Chandler.
