ave Murphy Park, a task force advocating for Murphy Park’s greenery, welcomes change to the park but wants it done the right way. Established about a month or so ago in response to the community’s concern regarding the potential changes to the park, Save Murphy Park is made up of Glendale residents, property owners and business owners. “It’s important to us that the project includes enhancement versus replacement of Murphy Park,” said Lorraine Zomok, president of the Historic Downtown Glendale Merchants Association and a member of Save Murphy Park. “We just would like to ask for the opportunity to provide public

Zomok, who is also the owner of Memory Lane Trinkets and Treasures in Downtown Glendale, said they are advocating for enhancements, but with potentially more grass and preservation of the trees. The advocacy group sees Murphy Park

She said without having done any outreach, the task force has received requests from more than 50 residents to receive emails for news and updates on the subject of the park. “To already have dozens and dozens of

Pollard said she was impressed with what she saw. “These are really driven students,” Pollard said. “When I was even just talking to them, they really knew what they wanted to do. They really had good questions to
ask. You can tell they were really engaged. “They were really just engaged and happy to be here. So, it was really, really exciting.” Highlighting the program were one-hour “Lunch and Learn” sessions and four-hour workshops that offered hands-on activities and speakers ranging from hospital clinical staff to surgeons and trauma physicians. Lunch and Learn topics included careers in intensive care units; respiratory therapy career paths; radiology and imaging careers; emergency management; careers
