EATS & BEATS BRINGS THE CROWDS AND THE FUN TO SCENIC ESQUIMALT LAGOON — ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACHES AROUND. IT’S ALL HAPPENING ON JULY 20, FROM 1 TO 8 P.M.,WITH FIVE LIVE BANDS, A STREET FOOD FESTIVAL, CRAFT BEER GARDEN, BEACH MARKET AND MORE.

ne of the events to check out on the Canada Day long weekend is the Lakeside Village Block Party, taking place on June 29 at 100 Presley Pl. in View Royal, between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Family- and pet-friendly, come for the live music, vendors, food and drink, and activities for kids.

Looking further ahead in July, check out the new Luxton outdoor Night Market, taking place every Wednesday night in July and August, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.You’ll find the market at the Luxton Fairground in Langford. By popular demand, Colwood’s Eats & Beats at the Beach is back. It’s all happening on July 20, from 1 to 8 p.m. on the scenic Esquimalt Lagoon. Take in five live bands, a street food festival, craft beverage garden hosted by the Victoria Beer Society, beach

street market, and free fun stuff happening on sand, sea and sky. Last, but certainly not least, if golf is your thing, then there are three tournaments coming up in July where you can enjoy golf, connect with friends or colleagues and support your community. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #91 Langford will be hosting its 49th annual tournament at Olympic View Golf Club on Jul. 7 and 8. Over at The Westin Bear Mountain Golf

MISSA Talks

Resort & Spa, the 12th Annual Y.E.S. Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Jul. 23, while the City of Langford Mayor’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Jul. 25. etchosin International Summer School of the Arts (MISSA) has been providing high calibre, specialized workshops for artists, teachers and serious adult students for 35 years, hosting local, national and international instructors who engage with students in an intense multi-disciplinary environment. Students from around the world come to participate in this artistic immersion for two weeks. This year’s school runs from June 22 to July 5. MISSA is all about the magic that happens when like-spirited folks who love art and the creative process gather together.

MISSA TALKS These popular evening presentations are open to MISSA students and the public.Visiting MISSA instructors have the opportunity to talk about the work they do with photos and anecdotes along with tricks of the trade — their talent is inspiring. Talks begin at 7:15 p.m. in the Max Bell Hall on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Donations are accepted.
