We are more likely to stick with an activity we enjoy and look forward to, so try Dance! There are five different weekly classes for different interests, all are a comfortable environment to move freely to music to the more choreographed instructed class. At the Victoria Centre, Dance for Every Body encourages the “dancer within” to share the wealth of stories that live in the body. n January, Silver Threads Service will be offering Dance Programs for a variety of level and styles for those 55 years and better. As we approach the New Year, some of us make resolutions to improve our health and starting a dance program may just be the right motivator for you. Why Dance? First there are cardiovascular benefits in participating in this type of exercise, which is important for us at any age. Dancing regularly will build muscular strength, as well as maintain and increase bone density. Which is important protection against the risk of broken bones. In addition to the physical aspects there are benefits for mental health, mood boosting along with improved mental acuity.

Memory PLUS is a Silver Threads Service program for those 55+ who would like to enhance their memory skills in an active and social group setting. The PLUS stands for Practice, Laughter, Useful Strategies. We encourage you to exercise your brain by solving an all about the Holidays scramble. Our next session will begin Wednesday, February 13th, 2023. Classes are at the Saanich Centre, located at 286 Hampton Road from 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
