The East-West and North-South corridors of Phase 1 have a combined length of 42.3 km and 41 stops. The Silk Board to KR Puram corridor, which spans 18.8 km and has 17 stops, is part of Phase 2A.
The Bengaluru Metro's Phases 2B and 2C have also begun construction under the direction of BMRCL.
There are two roads that will be built as part of Phase 2B. The first corridor will span a 37 km route with 17 stations from KR Puram to Kempegowda International Airport. The second corridor will span a 25 km route with 19 stations from Nagawara to Gottigere.
From K R Puram to Central Silk Board, a 31.3 km long railway is being built as part of Phase 2C. There will be 30 stations in total for this segment.
Phase 3 of the Bangalore Metro, which includes four new lines and 94 stations spanning a distance of 105 km, has also been suggested by BMRCL. However, the Phase 3 detailed project report was still being written as of the deadline.
It is significant to note that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic may have affected building activities on the Bangalore Metro, and there may have been potential delays in the projects' completion. But, recently Bangalore Metro has come one step closer to its completion of the project
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) reported on February 28 that it had received the go-ahead from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) Abhai Kumar following the final round of safety inspection on the 13.71-km Namma metro line between Whitefield and KR Puram.
Whitefield, Channasandra, Kadugodi, Pattandur Agrahara, Sri Satya Sai Hospital, Nallur Halli, Kundalahalli, Seetharam Palya, Hoodi Junction, Garudacharpalya, Mahadevapura, and KR Puram are among the 12 metro stations on the KR Puram-Whitefield line.
Although the precise start date for the line's commercial operations has not yet been decided, discussions are still taking place. Between February 22 and 24, this segment underwent its final safety assessments.
At first, BMRCL planned to begin operating the metro on this line by March of this year. A formal announcement on the opening of the KR Puram–Whitefield metro line is still pending.
BMRCL head Anjum Parwez told a publication that they had received clearance from the CMRS with "a few observations". While he did not provide specifics about the observations, a BMRCL official stated that the CMRS had directed that the statutory standard operating procedure be followed (SOP). Parwez had previously stated that if the CMRS made any recommendations, they would require nearly 10 days to comply.

What are Tokens and Smart Card Rules:- The Bangalore Metro employs a cashless ticketing system that enables users to purchase tokens or travel using a smart card. Before boarding, tokens—single-use, pre-paid tickets— must be bought at a ticket window or vending machine. Smart cards, on the other hand, are rechargeable, reusable cards that give users a 10% fare reduction. Tokens and smart cards can be used for both one-way and roundtrip travel.
The lowest and maximum fares for tokens are Rs. 10 and Rs. 70, respectively. A minimum of Rs. 100 and a maximum of Rs. 2000 can be put onto smart cards.
