WHAT’S ON
LIVE EVENTS (fingers crossed!)

Sculpture in the Gardens
Now – April 3, Auckland Botanic Gardens, Hill Road, The Gardens
Red should still mean go for ‘green’! Even with the traffic light set to red, we can still visit Auckland Botanic Gardens. As an added bonus, the biennial Sculpture in the Gardens exhibition is on now. Please note that visitors may need to book ahead. For details visit www. sculptureinthegardens.nz. Although red usually means stop, some events may still proceed despite pandemic restrictions. The Ministry of Health may further amend exactly what red means for events, but some ticketed events could still go ahead (possibly with reduced capacity) provided Vaccine Passes are checked and social distancing is possible. Masks may be required and event venues will also have to adhere to strict maximum attendance limits. It does look as though some public facilities (such as libraries, museums and public galleries) could remain open, again provided social distancing, capacity limits and (in many cases) mask-wearing is maintained.
Be sure to check with event venues regarding restrictions, possible cancellations and to and keep up-to-date with government guidelines – see covid19.govt.nz/ traffic-lights.

Grand Horizons
February 8 – March 5, times vary, ASB Waterfront Theatre, 138 Halsey St, Auckland City
‘Till death do us part’ appears to be up for dispute when Nancy settles into a beige-walled lifestyle village. If her fifty-year, picture-perfect marriage to Bill is set to fail, how will their grown children respond? This Tony-nominated comedy reveals all things (good or otherwise) must come to an end. This event is likely to go ahead with reduced audiences. For more information via www.atc.co.nz.

Billy T Award nominee, Abby Howells.

Billy T Jams
February 25, from 8pm, Q Theatre, 305 Queen St, Auckland City
Top Kiwi talent will be jamming it during this comedy showcase, part of the 2022 NZ International Comedy Festival. Hosted by the fabulously funny Brynley Stent, this show will give Billy T Award nominees the chance to stand up and be counted if all goes to plan. Details via www.comedyfestival.co.nz.
My Cousin Rachel
February 26 – March 19, times vary, Howick Little Theatre, 1 Sir Lloyd Drive, Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga
The arrival of a Countess from Florence sparks a mystery as passion battles reason in this play. Based on Daphne Du Maurier’s book of the same name, My Cousin Rachel balances intrigue with romance. More information via www.hlt.org.nz.
“Capital gain was important to our proactive approach to aging...

We wanted to make the move before we had to. Here everything is really well thought out. Our home is spacious and easy to look after. And the capital gain gives us the confidence to do the things we’ve always looked forward to.”
MARGARET GARDINER - RESIDENT AND RETIRED SPECIAL EDUCATION ADVISOR AND TEACHER
“I’m really passionate about what this industry can offer people. When we talk about best interests at heart, the most obvious demonstration of that is the share of capital gain. It’s fair. However, that’s not the only thing we want to be known for. At Karaka Pines Villages we believe it’s important to listen to the people who live here. For us, taking on board what’s important to the people in each village is what counts and it’s those individual nuances that make each Karaka Pines Village different. It’s theirs and the place they can truly call home.”
