Roundabout swings ahead
Construction of the new $16.4 million roundabout at the intersection of Glenbrook Road and SH22 near the Pukekohe Golf Course, began in March 2021 and by October 2022 was well underway despite work being paused during Auckland Alert Level 4 lockdown in August/September.
The SH22/Glenbrook Road roundabout will have four legs including access to the expanding Paerata Rise development where 4500 new homes are being built. This will serve as the main access to the new Paerata School, which is part of the subdivision development.
In constructing this new roundabout, there have been a number of road layout changes in the area with all road users moved onto a temporary road on SH22 to allow space for the team to work.
Other safety measures have been taken for people driving along this route. These include, safety barriers, turning bays and localised road widening.
