The residence was completely restored, renovated and updated in 2011 by highly respected Carmel Valley contractor, B. Jaeger., Inc. FRANCIS MCCOMAS: Francis McComas was born and studied in Australia. In 1898 McComas left Australia, working his way to San Francisco where he studied at the Mark Hopkins Institute. In 1912 he moved to Carmel and a year later was one of only 3 California artists invited to exhibit at the pivotal New York Armory Show. McComas was a master watercolorist, whose works hang in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the De Young Museum in San Francisco. The well lit great room in the center of the house was utilized as his studio.

• The 19th Century oak paneling off the kitchen was imported by Westland of London.
