The Goshorns Step by Step September 2016 Continued to be blessed

We started off the month with our normal programs. For our Saturday program we prepared for 40 kids. As we were preparing for the Bible lesson the kids just kept showing up, we ended up with over 70.

This was awesome, but we prepared food for 40.

Jennifer wasn’t worried even a little and we ended up with food left over. Later in the month we were contacted by a local Peruvian T.V. station. They said that they heard about some things that we’re doing in the communities and wanted to visit the program and interview us and the kids. They spent several hours with us and ended up playing, dancing, joining in on the Bible lesson and eating with the kids. They interviewed us and the kids and at the end they said they wanted to help us raise donations of cloths, toys, food and so on for our program. God is always in control.

England, Trish ,come and help us with our programs. She was such a help and she said that when she returns to England she was going to have her students start a program to help us in Peru.

While Trish was here, we received a call from one of our Peruvian friends. She told us that a family from the states arrived that day to serve here in Peru and the house they thought they had didn’t work out. She said they had no place to go. We Last month we told you about Romina, a friend were blessed to be able to open our home to them of ours in Lima that helped translate for our team. She while they looked for a home. called us this month and asked if she could come up to Louise a missionary who retired from Peru Huancayo for the weekend and we said sure. She told us that a lot of people talk about having an showed up with 2 suitcases of toys that she had open door “But “ she said “You guys really have an people donate in Lima. She was so excited that she wanted to bring them up then. We also had a girl from open door!” I think we’re just blessed.

Excited and then heart broken

I had a meeting with the director of the orphanage a few weeks ago. We were discussing programs for the children and I was shocked when he said I could have a Bible study with the boys starting in December when they’re off school. This is truly a prayer answered. Again, we’ve built trust with another director and he’s giving us an open door. We’ve built trust with other directors only to see them move on and we would start all over with the new one. This is the first time though that I was told I can share the Gospel!! I’ve already talked with a couple of the teenage boys and they are excited about this opportunity. I just pray they still feel this way in December. I was so excited and then the director received a call and when he hung up he told me they were getting two more sisters ages 9 and 12 the next day. He said they were coming from a jungle town about 7 hours away. The reason they were coming was because their father sexually abused the older sister and the mom was to busy for them. This is not a new story to the director or myself, but tears formed in both of our eyes. I have since met them and they are two of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. I watched them during movie night and the older one just kept her arms wrapped around the younger one making sure she was OK. I can’t imagine going through what they went through. Then to be taken from the only place, people and friends that they’ve ever known and sent into the mountains to a orphanage, school and people they’ve never met. Yet still , when the older sister smiles it just melts your heart. These girls will know the love of Jesus.

As we’ve said before, the majority of the kids at the orphanage are there for protection or abandonment. A small percentage are actually there because they have no parents.

I don’t want to use their names but could you please keep these two sisters along with the other children in your prayers. “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace” (Numbers 6:24-26).

This was the prayer of Moses over the children of Israel and it’s still as necessary and powerful to pray over our children today.
