The kids programs are continuing as normal. The rainy season has come to an end and we’re able to do more games in the fields with the kids before their lessons and food. We are continuing to have food donated for the family with 10 kids. Since they have no parents living with them I’m not sure what they would do without this generous donation. Four of the kids ages 12 to 18 have left for the jungle in order to work. I’ve tried to find them but have been unsuccessful so far. Jennifer’s prison ministry continues to grow. She has over 40 women attending now out of 98. God is definitely working through Jennifer and her team. She also started a Bible study on Wednesday's for young girls. This is going very well and Jennifer is surprised with all the questions and how interested they are. We’ve started a new prayer group in our home. This is very important because we sometimes neglect ourselves. We were asked to take the group to another's house and pray there also.

get one. Many are very knowledgeable about scripture but there also are those who have no clue. Salvador and I plan on meeting in groups in a couple months to share scripture. We’re very excited that Daniel is visiting in June. We plan on spending a lot of time at the coffee farm in the Jungle. We also have an intern coming in June to spend 6 weeks. We’re excited to get to know Julia and have another person to speak English with:) The end of June a team from Covenant UMC is coming. We’re in the process of preparing for them. They will be helping us in Huancayo with our programs.
We ask that you share this with others and Salvador and I have been making quite a consider joining us through prayer and or few trips to the jungle to get things going on the coffee farm. I make sure and take Bibles with me financial support. when I go and the locals fall all over themselves to We humbly thank you for your continued prayers and financial support. If you haven’t yet, we ask that you would prayerfully consider financially supporting this ministry in Peru. Without more financial partners this ministry can not continue to grow. We love you all and thank you for being part of God’s work in Peru.
Worthy Wednesdays were free and I liked having the day open but the Lord had different plans. I was speaking with a friend about several young girls and as the conversation progressed it was clear we should offer a Bible study for teenage girls. We have three young ladies from the community that we have known for several years, Luzmilda and her friend from school and Katherine all attending. It is a small group but we prefer it that way so we could really get to know each of them. Marguarite and Bresia are two girls from the orphanage who are attending. They were both sexually abused when they were children. Their fathers are in prison and their mothers are deceased. They are 17 years old and at the end of the year they will have to leave the orphanage. As of now they have no place to live. During our study some of the things these girls were taught have come out. For example, they were taught that Jesus was not sinless, the Holy Spirit does not live within us, and when Christ returns the Scriptures will disappear. We have taken time to show them what scriptures say about these and other topics and they are amazed and encouraged. For the study we are using Denise Glenn’s, Restoration of the Heart. It is a beautiful study about the worth of us as women and being the Bride of Christ. I have been very touched as I see these girls realize that they are worthy. In this culture women are not treated well by their spouses, fathers, fathers of their children or even their own children. They are often sexually abused, beaten and abandoned. My heart broke when we were discussing the difference between the way the woman in the story we are reading and the women here in Huancayo are treated. They are aware that women here are not valued or respected. But, they believed it was okay and that they could do nothing about it, they in fact had no value. Once they realized that this is not acceptable and they are worthy and deserve to be treated with respect, their whole perspective changed. It was beautiful. They have hope. I am looking forward to see these girls transform their thinking from shame, worthlessness, and insecurity, to believing that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” I know it is going to be a struggle, the enemy is here and working hard, but we already have victory in Christ.
