Time is Just Flying Our time in the States was busy. It was very hard packing in Peru to head to the States knowing that Daniel would not return with us. It was also difficult watching Peruvian friends come by the house to say goodbye to Daniel, tears were flowing. But, we know God has big plans.

While in the States we were truly blessed with a place to stay, vehicle's to drive, gas cards, restaurant cards and grocery cards. We were also able to spend some time with Jennifer’s mom in New York and relax a little. When we returned to Kentucky, time started flying.

We were sharing every day about Peru and our prayer concerns. We are so blessed to be able to share about something that is so close to our hearts. The time we had with family and friends is just what the Doctor ordered. When it was time to head back to Peru, we were ready.

Katherine even said “I’m ready to go home”. We were again blessed with friends who drove us and all our luggage to the airport. Daniel couldn’t come to the airport because he had classes at U.K. and I think that was probably a good thing:) We made it to Lima along with our luggage with no problems. While in Lima we were able to meet up with a couple families that we went to language school with and catch up on life. We also went to immigrations and paid our residency taxes.

When we returned to Huancayo, the kids in the neighborhood and our dog squealed (and barked) with excitement. This is just what we needed. When the Peruvians found out we were home, they started coming by to say “hi”. We even had an impromptu breakfast at our

house one morning. Not sure what they thought of french toast, but we enjoyed each other.

We really pushed our time in the States sharing about Peru because of prayer concerns, the huge need to raise financial support and because so many of you are part of the work in Peru. You were all so supportive and interested. It really was encouraging and affirming for us and for that we thank you

Acts 10:4 Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.

We humbly thank you for your continued prayers and financial support. If you haven’t yet, we ask that you would prayerfully consider financially supporting this ministry in Peru, without more financial partners this ministry can not continue to grow. We love you all and thank you for being part of God’s work in Peru.

The Power of Prayer On the first page I talked about prayer concerns. As a lot of you may know one of those concerns was about the orphanage. We knew that when we left for the States the assistant director, Norma, was going to retire. This orphanage is not real easy to work with or get into and the assistant director was a big reason we were able to be there. The primary director was never very open or friendly, but he went along with Norma. Therefore, we were worried we would not be able to continue ministry there. A day after we returned to Peru, we were walking past the orphanage when some of the kids saw us through the bars and came running to the gate. The guard immediately opened the gate and let the kids out to greet us. Our hearts melted. They started going on about Norma (the former assistant director) leaving. Then they also told us the director and the rest of the staff were no longer there either, we were surprised at this news. We were told that Norma, the guards, the house moms and all the kids told the new staff about us. Again, our hearts melted. We set up a time to meet with the new director a couple days later.

Needless to say we were a little apprehensive. The guard took us to the new assistant director and she took us to the new director. He was very receptive and said he heard about us and that we would have no restrictions at the orphanage as long as we helped the kids feel at peace. Words can’t describe how we felt at that moment. The kids were so excited when we showed up the following Saturday for English class. That day we also gave the kids gifts from Asbury UMC in Kentucky.

There is no doubt in our minds that if we never shared this prayer concern while in the States and had so many praying about it, the outcome would be different.

The power of prayer is the most powerful weapon we have against the enemy. We covet your prayers, so please keep them coming.

Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
