The Goshorns Step by Step January 2018 Happy New Year!! We pray that this new year will be a blessed year for all. Above all we pray that the Lord will be Glorified with every decision and action we each make. This year we were blessed to be able to take our entire team into the women's prison and give a message and hot chocolate with paneton to all the women. We were very proud of our team and how they all took turns talking with the women. Jennifer is very excited about 2018. She will be permitted to increase the weekly team members that can enter the prison for the Bible study. You have to remember that this is not a common occurrence, but she has built up a lot of confidence with the director. As I said last month, the response for sponsoring families for Christmas was huge. We spent quite a bit of time buying food and goodies to fill boxes for these families. They are so poor most of them don’t know how they’ll feed their families especially during the rainy season. We saw hard tuff dads raise their hands and say this is a true blessing from God. A 15 year old boy yelled to him mom and said look, we have matches and a single mother of 4 that works every day making bricks couldn’t speak after looking at the 120 pound box of food because of her tears. the states would help them. Again, we told them this is the body of Christ working together. What an awesome way to share the love of Christ. I had 12 dads show up at our last men's gathering including the leader of the community. We decided we’ll talk and discuss everyday problems they struggle with and what scripture has to say about it. Most of them don’t have electric in their adobe homes, but it’s available. We’re going to use that as a bonding moment and teach them how to install the electric. We want to build relationships and trust. We have many doors opening and we’ll need to address them this coming year. We pray that our team will continue to be motivated and inspired to continue God’s work with us.

A Tad Upset
We’ve told you about Zumilinda. We’re still waiting to hear from Shriner hospital about the possibility of surgery. I don’t believe they can, but nothing is beyond the Lord. I hope you don’t mind, but I want to tell you about her sister Aida. Aida is 22 years old and has 2 children, 1year and 3 years. She was never married and the father of the children doesn’t want anything to do with them. The father lives in Huancayo. Aida and her 13 year old brother moved to a rough part of Huancayo to try and find work. The brother Andre will no longer attend school. And Aida’s children are staying with her Mother and Zumilinda 7 hours away. They work for 22 cents a hour. They save 2 weeks wages to send back to the family for food and the rest goes for their food and rent. A month and a half ago Aida saw the father of the children and said she needed him to help financially. He became angry and started punching Aida and when she fell he started stomping on her head. She got to her feet and he sliced her arm with a knife. People came running as he was about to stab her in the chest, and he took off . She was taken to a hospital because she was badly beaten. Her teeth were damaged, had a concussion, and problems with ribs. She contacted the police and they received a medical report. They know where he works and lives, but they aren’t interested in doing anything because she's a “nobody”. Aida was so afraid she quit her job and moved outside of Huancayo to a place he doesn’t know. The 13 year old brother is staying alone in Huancayo so he can sell candy to now pay two rents. I have to be honest, I’m a tad upset. But with all of this happening, Aida and her brother said they want to learn more about God. The brother said all things are possible with God’s help. Here I am wanting to visit the father of the children but Aida and her brother want to learn about God. The Lord is always pointing me in the right direction. As I said before, the Lord is the only one qualified here. Now don’t get me wrong, we have an appointment with an attorney Wednesday for Aida. The police and this young man will be a little surprised that this very poor “nobody” will be able to pursue this legally.:) Please be in prayer for this family. Psalm 10:17-18 You, LORD, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them, and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, so that mere earthly mortals will never again strike terror.
