The Goshorns Step by Step December 2018 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We hope you all had a peace filled Christmas and blessed new year. This year with your generous support we were able to buy Christmas boxes of food for 65 families. Thank you so much for supporting this part of our ministry. The look on the faces of these families was priceless, especially since food is so scarce for them. We were also blessed with a team from Alabama that arrived in December to help put the boxes together and deliver them. The group was also permitted, along with our team, to enter the prison. We gave the women in the prison a message, and handed out hot chocolate, panatone and toiletries to 96 inmates. What was very unusual is that the prison guards allowed all of us to enter the dorms where the women sleep. Jennifer and I supplied the inmates with paint and fabric in order to fix up the rooms and the women were very excited to show us what they did with the supplies. Zumilinda and Luzmilda are thriving. Zumlinda received an award for a poem she recited and Luzmilda received an award for math at the school they are attending. Many of our Peruvian friends have said they see such a change in them. They said they look healthier, their faces are fuller and they smile all the time. They also celebrated Christmas with us and learned this is when we give thanks for the birth of Christ. A group from Crestwood UMC bought chickens for 2 very poor families. This will supply eggs for the

families that some days go without food. The group is also suppling feed for the chickens. This is such a huge blessing for these families. We traveled to the states on December 23rd. We were able to spend our 1st Christmas with the boys in 4 years. Now we’re waiting for the birth of our 1st grandson, Caleb Thomas:) As a lot of you know, TMS Global has not been receiving mail. Of course they would not know if they haven't received mail, but many missionaries have noticed a decrease in their donations. This has caused lots of frustration for many missionaries and supporters. The USPS has been investigating for some time but have not been able to figure it out. CHRISTMAS Growing up I never really thought about what Christmas was like for other people. In my family we went to church and sang Christmas songs. We had candlelight services and gave thanks for the birth of Jesus Christ. We had a Christmas tree and decorated the house with lights and other sparkly things. Then we would get up and open presents and get together with family to eat… I guess I thought everyone did the same thing. Christmas is very different for some. I see people that have no idea that this is when we celebrate the birth of Christ let alone decorate, have any food to eat and or have any type of presents. Jennifer started the program for sponsoring a family for food last year. It went so well we did it again and were able to supply food to many more families this year. The saying that we should share Christ all the time and every now and then use words is so true. Mahatma Gandhi said “There are people in the world so hungry, that God cannot appear to them except in the form of bread”. When these families received the food, they knew that it was a gift from Christ. Jennifer and I have always been carful about giving out presents, it is not something we normally do. But, this year a toy store in Huancayo donated toys for our programs. We did not seek out this donation: the Christian man who owns the store heard of our program and contacted us about the donation. So we discussed it and decided to accept the toys and hand them out at the Christmas party. We know it’s just a material thing, but when we saw the joy on their faces and watch them bow their heads to give thanks, we knew it was the correct thing to do. Most of these kids have never received any type of gift before. When the little girl above received her gift she sat down and just stroked it for the longest time. It was precious and humbling. Jesus is the perfect gift. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”. God gave us the perfect Gift when He gave us Jesus! We can’t thank all of you enough for making this possible. We are truly blessed to be able to serve along side all of you.
