The Goshorns Step by Step Dec.2020 This has been a crazy year for everyone. We haven't been able to have our regular programs yet but we were permitted in the orphanage the other day and it was awesome seeing some of the kids. We were able to set up a Christmas program that will happen in a couple weeks. We were also contacted by the prison and asked to come a couple days before Christmas. As most of you know, we’ve stayed very busy despite all the government restrictions. This is a short list of a few things we’ve been doing during this time. We’ve been averaging around 130 families (460 people, 187 kids) that we supply weekly food to since March. Along with food we’ve been able to share Christ and hand out Bibles. We've helped with 2 appendix surgeries, a gallbladder surgery, a hysterectomy due to cancer, treatment for a stroke victim who ended up passing away (she was only 42), treatment for a heart attack victim,( who is doing a little better) 2 DNC’s because of late term miscarriages, and finally 3 surgeries for a girl that was in a severe car accident. We helped 2 families that had propane tanks explode. Unfortunately, one of the mothers passed away. We provided prenatal vitamins and various medicines for people with diabetes, heart problems, asthma, and seizures. We’ve helped with several funeral's and listened to much heartache. In addition, we’ve also helped with rent so people weren't sleeping on the street. Each of you have made all this possible with your prayers and financial support, thank you.
Through all these horrible situations, we’ve seen the Lord working. We feel so very blessed to be here in Peru serving the Lord and his children. Many doors have opened with all the Venezuelan refugees. Serving people’s physical needs has built a lot of trust and presented many opportunities to share Christ. Many restrictions have eased up, but the virus is just as bad or worse than it has been. The government along with us have seen the devastation of shutting everything down. The amount of damaged caused by shutting things down will take many years to recover. Every person that I’ve spoke to has said that they would rather die from the virus then loose everything or starve to death. We continue to be in need of more people to join us in serving the Lord. Romans 12:4-5 “For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”

The Power of Prayer
Jhonnailgn is a 28 year old Venezuelan. she and her husband fled Venezuela for Peru in order to survive. In their country her husband worked on heavy machinery in the mines. They had a good life, but when Nicolås Maduro became president, things changed rapidity. A country that was very wealthy collapsed in a blink of an eye. There is no food, medicine, water, electricity & so on. Soldiers were permitted to go to farms in the country side and kill the owners. Peru is a neighbor of Venezuela, so naturally many fled here to survive. The Venezuelans that we know filed for correct documents as soon as they entered, but many Peruvians don’t want them here. This is the case with Jhonnailgn and her husband, work is impossible for them to find. While they were traveling looking for work, the car they were in went off the road and rolled down a mountain side. The husband was thrown clear but Jhonnailgn suffer a broken back and legs. She needed surgeries quickly. In order to have the surgeries they needed to pay for all the supplies she would use in the hospital in advance, for example medicines, gauze, I.V.s and so on. They had no possible way of paying. Because of the generosity from you in the states we were able to help her. When we informed her husband, his eyes watered up and said she would be crippled without our help. They performed surgery on her back first and then her legs. After some time she couldn’t feel or move her legs and was told she would never walk again. We let everyone know to start praying. She was in her room at the hospital when a different doctor entered and told her that her surgery was not done correctly. He said she needed a third surgery and he would do it at no charge. This was amazing since doctors doing unfamiliar surgeries, experimental surgeries, usually cannot be held accountable. Almost immediately after the second surgery was performed, Jhonnailgn started having feeling in her legs. She was told that after a year of therapy, she should be walking. Her faith in Christ has grown having seen and felt the power of prayer. She plans on doing the same for others. She sent us this message: "No tengo palabras para agradecer a Dios primero y luego a ti por el apoyo que brindas . Gracias" Translation: I have no words to thank God first and then you, for the support you have given me. Thank you.
