The Goshorns Step by Step December 2017 This time of year is getting a little hectic. I told you last month about families in the states sponsoring families in our programs. We had such a great response that we were able to buy even more food than expected. This is so awesome. A few weeks ago, four guys from the states came with 50 water filters. Jerod and I, along with the guys from the states, traveled to the women's prison to install and explain how the filters work. Then we traveled to a community about an hour away to do the same. This filter will serve about many people in this community. They were amazed when they saw muddy water turn into drinking water. In addition, we installed one at the home of a family that has 18 people living together in an old adobe house. We had a chocolatada at our program in Cullpa. A local TV station asked if they could come and film and join in. They said they would supply gifts for all the kids along with panaton (a popular treat). We also had about a dozen college students and three Miss. Huncayos help. The clowns that performed gave a message about Christ and then prayed for our program. Around 70 kids and a lot of their parents heard the word of Christ and experienced his love. Last month I also told you about the difficulty in getting a men's group going. Men on our team and I
The
have been traveling to another community further up in the mountains trying to start a men's group. The alcohol abuse is very bad in this community as it is in most. Along with this comes a lot of physical abuse. I’m excited to say that we had 5 men attend and they say they're to bring others. The more time we spend in the community talking with people, the more they see that evangelicals are normal people and are not at all like they were taught. After one of our programs we traveled up the mountain with the church for 40 baptisms. It’s so amazing seeing people step out and proclaim Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Over 100 people came to celebrate and worship with them on the river bank. It would be wonderful if all church families were as excited as them.
We humbly thank you for your continued prayers and financial support. If you haven’t yet, we ask that you would prayerfully consider financially supporting this ministry in Peru. Without more financial partners this ministry can not continue to grow. We love you all and thank you for being part of God’s work in Peru.
